2016 IHA Hospital Executive Academy Exceptional Executives: Preparing Future Hospital Leaders Preparing for success means preparing for succession Overview America’s hospitals are experiencing graying of the C-suite. As long-time leaders retire, there will be an influx of new leaders, many of whom have clinical or financial backgrounds and did not follow the typical hospital administration progression from days gone by. Purposeful succession planning is imperative to prevent loss of institutional knowledge and drive ongoing high performance in your organization. The next generation of executives is at work in Iowa hospitals, yet are these emerging leaders, managers, directors and mid-careerists ready to lead in your organization? The IHA Hospital Executive Academy Exceptional Executives: Preparing Future Hospital Leaders is a selective program designed to assist your hospital in identifying and equipping this next generation of senior leaders. Candidates are chosen by their hospital’s CEO and assigned a mentor from within their hospital. Through the IHA Hospital Executive Academy and its valuable combination of experienced, knowledgeable faculty, relevant information, project-based learning and one-on-one mentoring, you can take the next step in preparing your most promising employees – and your hospital – for continued achievement and excellence. In addition to learning essential skills that set great leaders apart, each candidate will complete a hospital project and present a project poster at the conclusion of the program. Academy Information A CEO will submit a form nominating the individual. Upon nomination by CEO, the individual will complete a registration form to enroll. The hospital will assign a mentor for their enrollee and in collaboration with their mentor will identify a project to complete. The 2016 Class will hold its first meeting at the 2015 IHA Summer Leadership Forum. Graduation will take place at the 2016 IHA Summer Leadership Forum and participants will feature their project through a poster presentation. Nomination and registration forms are available on the education page of the IHA website www. ihaonline.org. Who’s Invited The Academy is designed for new and aspiring leaders who are on a leadership succession track for the C-suite as well as senior level positions. Participants are identified and nominated by their hospital’s CEO. Academy class size will be limited to 25 individuals to maximize interaction and networking. Curriculum The Executive Academy is sponsored in part by: Integrates health care information with leadership development. Onsite face-to-face learning with experienced health care leaders.
