“Assess Now” is an iPad app which allows tailored and
individual feedback to be sent rapidly to students. Originally developed to deliver feedback on student oral
presentation the app can be adapted to deliver feedback
on a range of assessment tasks, such as clinical exams,
when the assessment needs to be completed rapidly in
real time. It has been successfully used across the
University to deliver tailored feedback to over 2000
students. David Shallcross is Director on the Engineering Learning Unit. David is active in chemical engineering
education and has won several awards including the 2006 Frank Morton Medal, a 2007 Carrick Citation from
the Carrick Institute, the 2010 Caltex Teaching Award of Excellence and the 2013 Institution of Chemical
Engineers Council Medal. He is an accreditation assessor for both Engineers Australia and the Institution of
Chemical Engineering and has accredited programs internationally. He is the former Editor-in-Chief of
Education for Chemical Engineers published by Elsevier.
