PART-TIME PROJECT ASSISTANCE NEEDED:
PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
Harrison County Home and Public Health (HCHPH) Department in Logan, Iowa is seeking part-time assistance to
update HCHPH’s Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) documentation including contact lists,
Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), inventory lists, preparedness and point of dispensing plans, and assist
with required fiscal year reporting. The project will include working with HCHPH staff, outreach to community
partners, and participation in county and multi-county coalition emergency preparedness meetings and training
as needed for background to complete project duties.
Duties/Deliverables
• Updated current contact lists, including lists for the following: Board of Supervisors, Board of Health,
schools, special needs facilities, fire and rescue, media, partnering health departments, and law
enforcement.
• Updated MOUs with community partners who can provide assistance in emergency situations including
locations for points of dispensing, printing companies, grocery stores and law enforcement.
• Updated inventory lists for equipment, medical supplies, and office supplies associated with emergency
preparedness.
• Updated public health emergency preparedness plans and point of dispensing plans working closely with
other Harrison County and Mills and Pottawattamie County preparedness partners.
• Attendance at meetings as determined to be needed for background (Nebraska CRI-MSA, Loess Hills
Healthcare Coalition, and Harrison County Emergency Preparedness groups).
• Assist staff with reporting requirements for fiscal year 2014-2015.
• The sequence and scope of deliverables from the above list will be determined on the basis of HCHPH
priorities, individual’s skills and experience, and project period.
Requirement/Preferences
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience and expertise with Microsoft Office and Adobe applications.
• Background knowledge in emergency preparedness.
Employment Relationship
• Assistance will be provided as an independent contractor for approximately 20 hours per week, through a
Project Service Agreement for the period from date the Agreement is signed, through June 30, 2015.
Continuation beyond June 30, 2015 may be possible depending on performance and continuation of grant
funding.
• Payment will be based on a negotiated hourly rate for services up to a set total for the Agreement period.
Mileage will be reimbursed for project associated travel at the rate of $.39 per mile.
