April 19, 2015 - Church of the Blessed Sacrament

BLESSED SACRAMENT CHURCH
Pastor’s Corner
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
This Sunday is a very special Sunday for us at Blessed
Sacrament as we celebrate First Holy Communion. First
Holy Communion is a wonderful opportunity for us as a
parish to renew the memory of that special day and, more
importantly, to be renewed in our devotion to the Blessed
Sacrament.
It is a tremendous privilege for us to have the name
“Church of the Blessed Sacrament.” It is also a tremendous
responsibility. My desire is that our parish will continue to be
“intensely Eucharistic.” That is, centered on the Eucharist.
We express our love for the Eucharist in many ways,
including faithful attendance at Sunday Mass and Holy
Days of Obligation, devotion to the Eucharist expressed
in time spent in prayer before the Eucharist, reverence
in the presence of the Eucharist, modest and dignified
clothing in the presence of the Eucharist, preparation for
reception of Holy Communion through regular reception
of Reconciliation, spending time in prayer before the
Holy Eucharist, and active participation in the Eucharistic
celebration.
We are called to “live the Mass.” Included in this is a call
to open our hearts to the transforming love of Christ we
encounter in the Holy Eucharist and to bring His love into
the world through acts of charity.
The more and more that the Eucharist is at the center
of our Church, the center of our prayer, the center of our
attention, the more and more Jesus will be at the center of
our lives.
Please join me in praying for our First Communicants
that the fervor and devotion of their First Holy Communion
will last throughout their lives. And please join me in
praying that our entire parish will continue to grow in our
love for Our Lord present Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in
the Most Blessed Sacrament.
God Bless,
Fr. Wilson

The disciples in today’s Gospel came to know Jesus in the
breaking of the bread. When we share what we have with
those who are in need, we, too, will discover Jesus in our
midst.

Pledges for the Restoration Campaign
“Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not come. We have
only today, let us begin.” With these words, Blessed
Mother Teresa spoke simply but eloquently about the need
for action. What an inspiring thought to contemplate as we
approach the single most important weekend of our capital
campaign next Sunday – Commitment Weekend! At all
Masses next week, you will have the chance to pledge right
from the pews during the Mass. A very simple process,
which will be explained in a brochure you will receive this
weekend at all Masses. Let us prayerfully consider what
we can do to help secure the future of our parish.
New Altar Server Training
All students who will be in the 5th through 11th grades
in the coming school year are invited to train to become
altar servers. A set of training sessions will be on Sundays
between the Masses from 9:00-10:15 a.m. starting June
14th and continuing June 21st, 28th, and July 5th. If you
are interested in signing up for these sessions or have any
questions, contact the parish office at 740-345-4290 or
simply show up the first day of training session on June 14th.
