The BMGA 2 man match play tournament is the same format as fourball.
A match consists of two teams of two players competing against each other. All four golfers play their
own ball throughout the round, and each hole is won by the team whose member has the lowest score.
This is a handicapped tournament. The lowest handicap of the 4 players is determined. From there,
each player is assigned a number of strokes based on how much higher their handicap is compared to
the lowest in the group. For example, the lowest in the group is a 4, and the other 3 players are 8, 10
and 16. Those players would then get 4, 6, and 12 strokes, respectively. Those strokes are to be taken
on the lowest handicapped holes. The player getting 4 strokes would get a stroke on handicap holes 14, even if he is a partner with the 4 handicap.
Winners of the first round will advance to round 2, and so on until there is a season long champion.
Schedule future matches as quickly as possible so we can finish the event prior to the season end.
We have room for 56 players on Saturday morning. If we have more than 56, matches can be played
later that day (to compete for on-course prizes) or outside the event date.
Sign up with a partner, or the tournament committee will do pairings as well.
Short a Player
If a player is late, his partner can play his own ball and have his score match against both opponents’
scores until the late player arrives. If there is a no-show, that can be a forfeit unless it is agreed by all
parties to re-schedule the match.
Rules
USGA rules shall govern all play. All decisions of the BMGA Rules Committee are final. This is a match
play event, so putts, and even holes can be conceded. If you are out of a hole, keep your score, as it
can be posted for handicap purposes.
Tee-Times
Tee-times will be posted one week prior to the tournament (approximately 6:30-8:30 AM).
Hospitality
Beer and soft drinks will be provided after the round.
Entry
Please make checks payable to the BMGA in the sum of $42 per player ($30 + $12). Entry deadline is
listed above. The field is unlimited. Entries can be dropped off or mailed to:
