12 EBMWG International Workshop th on Bone Marrow Pathology April, 16th-19th, 2015 - Auditorium Testori Palazzo Lombardia - Milan, Italy HOT TOPICS Course for bone marrow beginners: - designed for pathologists and hematologists approaching BM pathology - issues include clinical needs of BM examination, cytologic guidelines on BM aspirate, principles of flow cytometry, basic histological parameters on BM biopsies, and diagnostic algorithms in myeloid and lymphoid neoplasms Updates and news of the WHO classification - The most recent and relevant news on BM pathology, which will be included in the forthcoming updated WHO classification, will be presented by many expert, members of WHO roster Differential diagnoses on BM biopsies - The principles of differential diagnosis on BM biopsies for plasma cell disorders and fibrotic BM will be analyzed BM features after therapy - The modifications caused by various therapeutic regimens, including new agents, introduced for the treatment of myeloproliferative neoplasms, myelodysplastic syndromes and acute leukemias will be analytically analyzed Round Table: Interdisciplinary approach to myelodysplastic syndrome - The contributes of the different methods and technologies -i.e. basic morphology, flow cytometry, cytogenetics, and molecular techniques- will be discussed by leading experts in the diagnosis and clinical management of myelodysplastic syndrome; a survey focused on the actual impact of these methods across different centers and drawn from a questionnaire filled by delegates at the time of their on-line registration will be presented Bone marrow workshops on - Four workshop sessions will present clinical cases sent by delegates on: Myeloproliferative neoplasms Myelodysplastic syndromes, myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative diseases Acute leukemias: new and rare entities Mimickers of BM neoplasms and post-therapy marrows After case submission deadline, 63 cases from each continent (Africa: n. 2, America: n. 17, Asia: n. 1, Europe: n. 40, Oceania: 3) were collected and are now under review by the Workshop Panelists, who will select the most representative ones for oral presentation and summarize the remaining ones.
