Overview:
This lacy shawl is bordered by garter stitches to prevent curled edges. It can be made
dressy or everyday by the yarn that you use. Use a thin stranded bulky yarn for a lacy
fashion shawl, or use two strands together or a thicker yarn for a warmer shawl. It’s the
perfect wrap for a prom or wedding, or when the air conditioning at the office is turned
up too high.
The sample shawl was knit on the round yellow Knifty Knitter loom using 3 skeins (1.76
oz., 83 yd) of Moda Dea Eden yarn in color #5341 Serpent.
Skill Level: Easy
Materials Needed:
• Large gauge round knitting loom with 41 pegs, such as the round yellow KK
loom
• Crochet hook size J or K
• Hook tool
• Approx. 250 yds. yarn
• Scissors
• Tapestry needle
Knowledge Required:
• Crochet cast on (see notes below)
• Twisted stockinette (e-wrap) stitch
• Purl Stitch
• Flat removal method (see notes below)
Finished Size:
18” wide, 65” long. Exact gauge is not critical.

Notes:
• All knit stitches are twisted stockinette, made with the e-wrap stitch.
• New yarn skeins should be added at the beginning of a row so the woven in tails are
less conspicuous.
• Cable Cast On. This cast on is like crocheting a single chain, but catching each peg
with the underside bump. The two strands of the chain will be on the inner side of
the peg, and one strand of yarn will be on the outer notched side of the peg.
1. Make a slip knot 6” from the end of the yarn, and place it between pegs 1 and
41 (above the anchor peg).
2. Put the crochet hook through the loop in the slip knot.
3. Let the working yarn wrap around peg 1, and catch the yarn with the crochet
hook.
4. Pull the working yarn through the loop on the crochet hook.
5. Let the working yarn wrap around the next peg, and catch the yarn with the
crochet hook.
6. Repeat step 5 until there is a loop on every peg, including peg 40.
7. Put the loop remaining on the crochet hook onto peg 41.
• Flat Removal Method:
1. The working yarn should be at peg 41.
2. Put the loop on peg 2 onto peg 1.
3. Knit off peg 1.
4. Put the loop from peg 1 onto empty peg 2.
5. Repeat steps 1 – 3 until there is one loop left on the loom.
6. Wrap the peg and knit off. Cut the yarn, leaving a 6” tail.
7. Wrap the peg and knit off again. Pull on the remaining loop until the cut end
of the yarn comes through. Pull snug against the knit fabric.

Directions:
Cast on to 40 pegs using the crochet cast on method (see notes). Put the last loop on the
crochet hook onto peg 41. Do NOT close the loop; you will be knitting back and forth to
make a flat piece.
Row 1: Knit pegs 40 – 1.
Row 2: Purl pegs 2 – 40. E-wrap peg 41 and knit off.
Rows 3 – 4: Repeat rows 1 – 2.
Move the loops to their neighboring pegs as follows:
Loop 5 to peg 6
Loop 7 to peg 8
Loop 9 to peg 10
Loop 11 to peg 12
Loop 13 to peg 14
Loop 15 to peg 16
Loop 17 to peg 18
Loop 19 to peg 20
Loop 37 to peg 36
Loop 35 to peg 34
Loop 33 to peg 32
Loop 31 to peg 30
Loop 29 to peg 28
Loop 27 to peg 26
Loop 25 to peg 24
Loop 23 to peg 22
Loop 21 to peg 20 (There will be three loops on peg 20.)
Row 5: Starting with peg 40, e-wrap all pegs with loops on them and knit off, leaving
one loop on each peg.
Row 6: Purl pegs 2 – 4, e-wrap all pegs 6 – 36 with loops on them, purl pegs 38 – 40, ewrap peg 41. Knit off e-wrapped pegs.
Repeat rows 5 – 6 seventy times.
Next row: Starting with peg 40, e-wrap pegs that have loops on them, and pass the yarn
in front of empty pegs. Knit off pegs with 2 loops on them.
Next row: Purl pegs 2 – 40. E-wrap peg 41 and knit off.
Next row: Knit pegs 40 – 1.
Next row: Loops created on this row should be loose enough to reach the neighboring
peg when stretched. Purl pegs 2 – 40. E-wrap peg 41 and knit off.
Remove the shawl from the loom with the flat bind off method.
Weave in yarn tails along edges.
