Community Project Wall 2016
applications open
The Community Project Wall is located within
the Hawthorn Arts Centre as part of the
Town Hall Gallery and is available to local
community groups, schools, and local and
emerging artists for the exhibition of twodimensional works. The space allows artists
to exhibit for free within a professional arts
context, and have their work exposed to a
broad audience. There are 12 exhibition slots
– January to December. Applications for 2016
close at 5pm, Tuesday 30 June 2015.

Energy savers for retailers
Brett De Hoedt from Hootville
Communications will host this popular
annual networking opportunity between local
businesses and community organisations.
Keynote speaker Carolyn Tate will speak about
the art of making valuable connections with
total strangers. The event runs from 6pm to
8.30pm, Thursday 14 May at the Chandelier
Room, Hawthorn Arts Centre, 360 Burwood

are opportunities to enhance both the
environmental and economic sustainability
of many businesses. This workshop will be
presented by energy experts from Positive
Charge and will help put your business on
the right path to a sustainable future. It runs

Extended smoking bans in force
Food Access Forum
Smoking is now banned within the grounds
of, and within four metres of an entrance
to, childcare centres, kindergartens and
preschools, and primary and secondary
schools in Victoria; as well as children’s indoor
play centres, public hospitals, registered
community health centres and certain
Victorian Government buildings.
Join us for the opportunity to share ideas for
improving access to nutritious food in our
community. The forum will showcase local
research and innovative ideas by prominent
food systems experts. Come along from
10am to 11am, Wednesday 29 April at the
Parkview Room (Council offices), 8 Inglesby
Road, Camberwell. Cost: free. Register your

Motorised scooter session
You can find out all you need to know about
motorised scooters and electric wheelchairs
at Council’s practical education session at
Kew Traffic School on Wednesday 6 May from
9.30am to 12noon. Participants can test drive
a device, receive information and advice and
gain a greater understanding of motorised
mobility devices. Bookings essential.
