Well, I keep thinking that spring is on it’s way but I think Mother Nature has different plans for us! I think this
has been the coldest winter since Bob and I moved to Murrells Inlet eight years ago! Can you believe it! June
with be out 8th Anniversary of owning Accent Sewing! Keep your eye open for specials to celebrate our 8th
Anniversary!
We have some special events happening these next four months and I am really excited about them. We have a
special Baby Lock Serger event and we are participating in the “Row by Row Experience”. Be sure to read
about them and get signed up!
We have a new teacher. Bobbi Antonucci has been teaching beginning sewing and she is a very talented
seamstress! If you want to learn how to sew whether you are an adult or a child, call and get started today. You
can sew whatever you like. Bobbi will teach you the basics and get you on the road to successful sewing!
We have Bernina University and Baby Lock Tech coming up this summer. I always look forward to going to
see what great new products they have for us. I will share all the great things I have learned when we get back.
We now have the full line of Floriani stabilizers and we are also carrying their designs. They really have some
gorgeous designs for those of you who love embroidery. Stop by and check out their samples. If you missed
our Floriani Event, Darlene was outstanding! We plan on having her back next year!
Jerri McKee is back from her traveling and will be teaching several great purse classes! Get out your calendars
because you don’t want to miss them. Jerri is the owner of Moonlight Design and she travels to a lot of quilt
shows. You may have seen her at one of these shows. Her booths are always so inspiring! She has gorgeous
jacket patterns created from sweatshirts and we carry them here.
Hopefully, you didn’t have any damage from the ice storms we had. Bob and I are still cleaning up our backyard. At least now, the sun is shinning and the pollen is subsiding so we can get out there and get busy. We
hope you all have a great summer and don’t forget to visit your friends here at Accent Sewing!

Beginning Quilting
This class is NOT JUST for beginning quilters. If you have never taken a beginning quilting class, you should definitely
sign up for this one. This class is NOT about completing a king size quilt in a couple of weeks. This class IS about taking
any piece of fabric and helping you turn it into a well-constructed project. This class will take you through the basic steps of
rotary cutting, 1/4” seams, adding borders, and finishing touches. You will learn from beginning to end how to make a quilt!

Bailey Island Hobo
The Bailey Island Hobo Bag is made from 2 1/2” strips of fabric. Use a Bali Pop or make your own with left over scraps of
fabric! This pattern includes instructions for 2 different sized hobo bags—a small which measures 11”x9”x3” and a large
which measures 16”x15”x6” when finished.

easy way! The finished size is 10 ½” wide by 10” tall by 2” deep. I’ve been told that an iPad fits inside.

Shade Cascade Quilt
This quilt is a Log Cabin variation that is easy enough for beginners. You will need 4 shades of several colors to make the
colors of this quilt “cascade” off your project. The power of this quilt is in the contrast of the colors you choose. Add more
blocks or more colors to make it any size you desire.

This bag is the perfect thing to hold all of your sewing accessories! I adjusted the size of mine to hold my Paintwork Tools
and still have room for all kinds of other accessories. The individual pockets are attached with Velcro and remove easily.
This bag is perfect for taking to class to hold just the items you need without bringing “the kitchen sink”!

Disappearing Nine Patch
This is another quilt easy enough for even the beginner sewers. Make it with a few focused colors or try a scrappy quilt with
5” charm packs or use up some of your accumulating fabric stash. You will construct simple 9 patches. Then with a quick
slice of your rotary cutter, you will learn how to change it into a new design of your choice. You’ll make everyone wonder
where the 9 patch went! You will complete enough blocks in class to create your own new pattern but it is so much fun that
you will be able to make this quilt any size you want.

Watch for a fun opportunity coming to your neighborhood quilt shops with a
“Row by Row Experience”!
Watch for a new kind of shop hop coming to quilt stores in your neighborhood and areas where you
might travel to this summer! This is an event with no fees, no passports, and gives you all summer to
play! Simply visit any of the participating shops located in North and South Carolina plus many other states and you can receive a FREE pattern for a row in a quilt. Combine your rows in any way
you choose to create a unique quilt that represents the fun you had traveling throughout the summer.
Travel with friends, discover new quilt shops and have fun collecting rows! You could be able to
win prizes along the way. All you have to do is create a quilt using at least 8 different rows and be
the first to bring it into any participating shop to win a stack of 25 fat quarters (6 1/4 yards of fabric!). Use that shop’s row in your quilt and win a bonus prize!
We would like to start a sewing class for kids. If you have a child that is interested in learning to sew, please call the store
and give us your child’s name and age. The program would run for six weeks from 3:30 to 5:00 one day a week. There
will be a different project each week. If you child doesn’t have a sewing machine, they may use one of our’s. This class
will be taught by Melissa.
Bernina 780/830/880 Class
You have now purchased the machine of your dreams so let’s learn how to use it. You will spend half of the day learning the
sewing portion of your machine and the other half learning embroidery. The knowledge you will gain from this class will leave
you thinking “Wow what a great machine”!

Clubs
Embroidery Club
For those of you with embroidery machines, we have embroidery club which meets once a month. You don’t have to own a
Bernina or Baby Lock machine to come to embroidery club. We accept all brands! You must, however, know how to use your
machine. We meet on the 2nd Monday of every month at 2:00 or 6:00. Club features a new project every month. Sometimes
there will be a kit and other times you will need to bring your own supplies. We try to do projects that you can finish in the
two hour time frame, but sometimes you may have to finish at home. Fee for club is $5.00 each month. You will be notified
by e-mail what the project will be. You just need to e-mail a response that you plan to attend and what time you will be attending. Hope to see you there!
Serger Club
Serger club is the last Friday of every month. As long as you know how to use your serger, any brand of serger can attend.
There will be a $5.00 charge per month. As with the embroidery club, I will send out an e-mail letting you know what the project will be. To attend, just send me an e-mail or call the store and sign up. See you there!
