This is a very exciting
time of year. While this
past winter was one for
the record books, we
have been able to push
ahead with the construction of the new Lauri
Ann West Community
Center. As we move
forward with our new
center, and all of the opportunities that it will
bestow, we cannot forget
about all of the great things
we are currently doing at Boyd.
We have a tremendous lineup of summer programs and
camps. This is a combination of new and favorite
classes, including Golf with The First Tee Pittsburgh,
electronics and robotics classes with Advanced Technologies for Kids, and Music Discovery with the Center
for Young Musicians.
Thank you very much for your patience and continued
support and we look forward to serving you today, tomorrow and in the new Lauri Ann West Community
Center.

Boyd Mission
The Community Center enriches lives and strengthens the community by providing a welcoming place
for community engagement. The Center delivers
dynamic high quality cultural, educational, and recreational classes, camps, workshops, and memorable
special events. The friendly atmosphere, innovative
programming, and planned revitalization of the facilities provide an inviting community gathering
place.

Registration
Policies
Visit our website at www.boydcommunitycenter.org to
register online or register by phone at 412-828-8566 x11.
All online registrations include a service fee. For your
convenience, we accept Visa and Mastercard. Registration
is also accepted in person in the office where you may
pay with cash, check, credit, or debit card. Each program
session is considered a new class and requires separate
registration. Please remember that you are not automatically registered into additional sessions until registration is
complete, including payment. Prices shown are per session.
 Continue to check the Boyd Community Center web
site and stop in as we continue to add classes, camps,
and programs through out the year!
 Please register early! A decision to run or cancel is
dependent on having a sufficient number of participants registered at least one week prior to the start of
the class. Waiting until the last minute to register may
result in a class, camp, or program being cancelled.
Please register early or you may miss out on something you or your children really wanted to take.
Who May Attend
For most preschool camps, your child must turn three or
three and a half before the start date of the camp, must
be potty-trained, and should be comfortable participating
without your presence. For school age camps, the age
varies from camp to camp, depending on the
developmental skills necessary to participate in the
activities. Please call Boyd registration staff with any
questions about a camp's fit for your child. We welcome
children of all abilities and are happy to talk with you
about how we can make camps at Boyd a fun and
rewarding experience for your child.
Refunds and Discounts
If a program or class is cancelled by the Community Center, you will receive a 100% refund, less the on-line processing fee.
If you cancel your registration one week before camp is
scheduled to begin, we will refund your registration fee
minus a $10 processing fee. We cannot refund cancellations made after that time or pro-rate for unused days.
Members of the Boyd Community Center receive a 20%
discount on registration. Become a member online or
call us today. Family memberships are $75 per year. Sibling discounts are available.
Scholarships at Boyd
The Boyd Community Center’s Scholarship Program
assists with financial need to participate in our great
classes, camps, and workshops. Scholarships are awarded
based on financial need using the same guidelines used by
FCASD for state-funded free and reduced lunch program. Scholarships may cover from fifteen to ninety percent of the cost of a program registration.

Photographs
Program, class, and activity participants may be
photographed and images used for promotional
materials, including print and electronic. You may deny
permission to be photographed by notifying us in writing.
Changes
Occasionally there may be a published error in day, time,
and fees. When such errors occur we will do everything
possible to correct and contact participants as soon as
possible. Also, published instructors and program time,
day, or content may be subject to change. Please check
the website or call.
Safety
The safety of our students, customers, instructors and
staff is of upmost importance to us and O’Hara
Township. Additional safety elements that are being
implemented during construction include: All
construction personnel will have the required clearances.
Construction personnel will not enter the Boyd building,
except for supervisors attending meetings accompanied
by Boyd and Township staff. Construction personnel will
not be using Boyd rest rooms and construction areas will
be fenced off from the Community Center. No
unauthorized persons are permitted to enter the
construction site. All construction personnel and
authorized persons must wear required personal safety
equipment. All visitors to Boyd and parents picking up
and dropping off children must use the front entrance.
Camps at a Glance
Boyd summer camps are one week long, every weekday at the same time (except Musical Theater, which is two weeks).
Campers may sign up for back-to-back camps. Boyd staff will supervise children and escort them to their next camp. Please
provide a snack for your child to enjoy and refuel during the break between camps.

Camps for this age group run for 90 minutes. We maintain a maximum 10:1 camper-to-staff ratio for most preschool camps.
Children with experience attending classes on their own may enroll for camps in consecutive time slots. We provide supervision between camp sessions and campers may bring a healthy snack to enjoy at this time.

Explore the grounds around Boyd looking for critters
while learning about animals in our backyard. Pretend,
play, create, and sing about squirrels, birds, chipmunks,
rabbits, insects, and more. Help build your imagination,
fine and gross motor skills, and attention span.

Real Robotics for Bright Kids **NEW**
with Advanced Technologies for Kids instructor Sorin Achim
The most fun that can be packed in 10 hours of advanced
technologies for kids - that's the short description of this
robotics program! Students discover why robots are considered "smart" machines and build their own autonomous mobile robotic systems while mastering the basics
of programming - each change in a line of code will be
immediately observed in the changed behavior of a moving robot. Sensors, motors and programmable robotcontrol CPUs are combined with drag-and-drop programming - all with the familiar Lego look. Depending
on skills, students will work with different versions of the
Lego Robotics System: RCX, NXT, EV3. It all ends with
a public presentation and competition (usually a robotic
battle) where family and friends are guests of honor.
