Fussy-Cut four or more embroidered
roses, depending on the length needed
for your Quarter Quilt.

Center the rose inside the opening of
the 8" View & Do™ Octagon Shape.
Rotary cut around the outside of the
Shape.
Accent strips.
Fold
Fold
Sew the accent strip to one side of the
octagon, using ⅛" seam.

Cut 4 1" strips.
Fold the strips in half lengthwise, wrong sides together.
Trim the ends of the strip using the
Octagon Shape.
Decorate your bed with
the latest trend—

Block Border Strips.
Cut 6 1½" strips from both a light
and a dark fabric.
Start sewing
about
half way
Sew a partial seam to sew the first
light border strip to the octagon.
Start sewing midway on the strip.

Press the seam allowances away
from the octagon and toward

Line up the Starmaker® 8 with
the outside of the octagon. Cut
the right hand side of the strip
even with the outside of the
octagon.

Continue sewing and trimming accent
strips on each side of the octagon.

Add strips clockwise around the octagon,
alternating light and dark strips, using a ¼"
seam.

Trim both of the ends of
each strip by lining up the
Starmaker 8 with the side of
the octagon and the previous
strip.
For a more decorative quilt, apply
iron-on crystals by Dalco to the roses,
pedals and border strips using the
Dalco Wand. www.dalcrystals.com

The View & Do™ Octagon Shape is one of 6 different
Shapes Kaye created for fussy-cut quilts.
The Starmaker® 8 is one of 3 different Starmaker Master
Templates Kaye created for cutting the perfect angle in
geometric quilts.
After sewing and trimming the last
strip, finish the partial seam on the
first strip so it overlaps the ending
strip.
Start sewing the second border with a
partial seam.
Follow the directions for the first
border.
Corner Squares
Cut two 4" squares.
Cut the squares diagonally to get the four
triangle corners.
Sew the bias edge to the octagon.
Press the seam allowances toward the
triangles.
After all four corners are sewn to the
octagon, trim the corners even with the sides of the
octagon.
Sew 4 or more floral octagons together to make your
Quarter Quilt the right length.
Add one or more borders to make your Quarter Quilt the
right width.
Finish the Quarter Quilt
Layer your quilt, batting and backing.
Machine or hand quilt.
Add a binding.
Sign your quilt on the front, or on a label in the back.
