Description:
The Dr. Dennis J. Fife Scholarship was established to assist students studying at Utah State University Brigham
City Regional Campus who are pursuing a science, engineering or mathematics career. Dr. Fife earned his Master
of Science and PhD from Utah State University in 1978 and 1983 respectively. He retired from the United States
Air Force after 21 years of service as a Command Pilot and tenured professor of Chemistry at the United State Air
Force Academy. Upon his retirement, he accepted a position at Thiokol/ATK Corporation. He also taught
chemistry at the Utah State University Brigham City Regional Campus. Dr. Fife is the past mayor of Brigham City,
Utah.
Scholarship amount:
Two scholarships of up to $1,500
Submission Date:
Applications will be accepted until 5:00pm on Monday, March 16, 2015
Eligibility for Scholarship:
- US citizen
- Must be admitted to Utah State University
- Declared major in the College of Science, or the College of Engineering
- Overall GPA of 3.00 or higher. The GPA posted after fall semester 2014 will be used to determine
overall GPA.
- Preference will be given to a resident of Box Elder County.
- The highest number of USU earned credits will be used to determine recipient if students have equal
qualifications.
Criteria for Maintaining Scholarship:
- Half of the scholarship is for fall semester 2015; the other half is for spring 2016. Funds cannot be used
in any other semester.
- Must be enrolled for a minimum of 6 credit hours during the scholarship period
- Must be enrolled in Brigham City sections of classes only.
- Receive a minimum of a 3.0 GPA for fall semester 2015 to be awarded the second semester in spring
2016.
- Cannot be used with any other USU Brigham City Regional Campus sponsored financial award.
- Not redeemable for cash.

- Attach your typed Goal Statement
- Deliver your application documents to the Cashier Office, room 170, Milton P. Miller Building,
USU Brigham City, or mail to

Acceptance Procedure
Recipients of the scholarship will be notified by the email address provided on their application.
- The Acceptance Agreement must be returned to the Cashier Office by Friday, March
27, 2015
- A letter of appreciation must accompany the Acceptance Agreement addressed to:
Trust Officer of D. Dennis J. Fife Scholarship.
- A short 100 to 200 word biography for the donor must be included.
- Recipients must be available to attend an awards banquet on April 22nd.
