Selectmen’s Meeting
May 6, 2015
Present: Chad Hanna, Terry Lowd, Paul Yates, Kristine Poland

Roads
 A motion was made by Lowd to accept O.W. Holmes’ bid for grading and
raking in the amount of $7,650 with gravel to be added as necessary. The
motion was seconded by Yates and carried.
 A motion was made by Lowd to accept Asplundh’s bid for tree removal in
the amount of $11,500. Brush will be chipped and wood will be left on site.
The motion was seconded by Yates and carried.
 Michael Alderson requested a 60 day hold on paving of Brown’s Cove
Road to give petitioners time to gather signatures. Hanna indicated that
multiple roads are on the list for paving and that the process cannot be
postponed for one road. The selectmen may or may not receive bids for
paving within the next 60 days. A meeting with contractors needs to take
place and a bid package needs to be put together before the town can go
out to bid as one complete package. Poor Farm Road, Rock Schoolhouse
Road, Brown’s Cove Road, Old County Road and maintenance paving on
various other roads are being considered.
 A motion was made by Lowd to accept Chadwick’s quote of $659.98 for a
power broom. The motion was seconded by Yates and carried.
 Temporary barriers in a neutral color with reflective tape will be
purchased for the Landing Road. Permanent barriers will be installed on
Kelly Street.
 An agreement and payment schedule will be arranged for residents of
Bristol Mews Road to purchase the front runner (rake) at a cost of $1,500.
The rake will be retrieved if timely payments are not made.
 Reviewed correspondence from Maine Department of Transportation
(MDOT) concerning light paving and the culvert replacement at Little
Falls Brook.
 Inspection reports were received from MDOT for all town bridges.
Selectmen will ask Phil Fitton to make cosmetic repairs (cracks) on Day’s
Bridge in Round Pond. Hanna will obtain quotes on various guardrails.
Building Permits
 Prentice, tax map 9 lot 19, 9-15/16, approved. Applicant will be asked to
mark all distances on plan.

 Heiser, tax map 10 lot 32B, 10-15/16, approved.
Other Business
 Reviewed and signed deed for tax map 6 lot 42A releasing a matured tax
lien.
 Discussed the status of tax acquired property in general.
 A motion was made by Lowd to approve the minutes of April 22nd. The
motion was seconded by Yates and carried.
 Reviewed and signed disbursement warrants. Selectmen may consider
breaking the contract with Direct Energy and returning to standard offer.
 Maine Revenue Services will be contacted concerning residency
requirements on homestead exemptions.
 Monthly financial reports for the town and parks were distributed.
Discussed vending machine receipts in general.
 Discussed the status of the vessel Columbia.
 Discussed plans for Olde Bristol Days and the 250th Celebration in general.
 The public hearing for the proposed internet protocol television (IPTV)
franchise with Lincolnville Communications will be held Wednesday May
20th at 7:00 pm.
 The selectmen will not meet Wednesday May 13th. The next meeting will
be Wednesday May 20th.
 Hanna would like to schedule a contractors meeting for the week of May
18th.
