SPONSORSHIP PACK Unlocking the (Digital) Potential of the Bush WEDNESDAY 15 & THURSDAY 16 JULY 2015 CHARLES DARWIN UNIVERSITY, DARWIN WATERFRONT 21 Kitchener Drive, Darwin, NT The Broadband for the Bush Alliance is a group of organisations that are committed to the digital inclusion of remote and rural Australia. The Alliance brings together a range of stakeholders with expertise in communications, remote service delivery, and community engagement. The Broadband for the Bush Forum is an engagement of remote and rural stakeholders with key decision makers to build collaboration and deliver the best possible policy outcomes. Broadband for the Bush Alliance Forum 2015 Invitation The Broadband for the Bush Alliance (B4BA) is pleased to announce that our 2015 Forum will take place on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th July at the Charles Darwin University Casuarina Campus in Darwin, Northern Territory. The 2015 B4BA Indigenous Focus Day will precede the Forum, on Tuesday 14th July. The fourth Forum: Unlocking the (Digital) Potential of the Bush will place emphasis on concepts and ideas that encompass collaboration and innovation, and with the mind-set that communications is an enabler of economic and social developments. With 150 delegates anticipated to attend, this event offers a unique opportunity to unite the voice of remote and rural Australians. We will explore and seek practical outcomes that promote digital inclusion, using both fixed and mobile technologies, and explore better and innovative infrastructure in the bush. The Forum will bring together influential decision makers and end-users from across the community, public and private sectors, as well as technical experts and representatives from senior Industry, Australian government, NBN Co, and academic institutions. Across the twodays, the Forum will focus on four streams that drive a positive and strength-based approach: local connected communities, strong and sustainable economy, breakthrough innovations and technology, and engaged government. We invite you to partner in the most engaging and comprehensive digital inclusion conference focused on remote Australia and to join us in recognising and celebrating the work of Australians in enabling the advancement in the all-important area of communications. Your involvement as a sponsor will bring long lasting benefits to stakeholders in remote and rural Australia that will continue beyond the event. We look forward to discussing sponsorship prospects with you. Darwin July 2015 5 About the Forum and Indigenous Focus Day 2015 Event Format The Forum will deliver two consecutive, interactive and jam-packed days. The program will consist of a mix of activities across the days, from presentations and panel discussions, to plenary and other interactive sessions. An example of the latter is the ‘fishbowl’ and ‘Open Space’ sessions, which participants indicated were highlights of the Forum held in 2014. There will be policy-oriented discussions as well as opportunities for getting ‘hands-on’ with technology, with innovative solutions and emerging new technologies being showcased. The specific blend of activities will be determined as the Forum program and speakers are confirmed. To maximise engagement both during, but even more so after the event, a live Twitter feed, as well as a live transcription and sketching feed, is planned. The Indigenous Focus Day will be held the day before the Forum. There will be a close alignment between the two events with representatives from the Indigenous Focus Day contributing insights at various points during the Forum where linkages and connections are relevant. 6 Broadband for the Bush Alliance Forum IV: Unlocking the (Digital) Potential of the Bush About the Forum: Unlocking the (Digital) Potential of the Bush Forum Streams 1 Local connected communities: What are the solutions to increasing access and participation? What are the risks and challenges involved? Share and learn from some of the most successful case studies. The Forum was informative, collaborative and provided great insight and excitement about potential for broadband for the bush. Penney Wood | Australian Communications Consumer Action Network 2 3 4 Strong and sustainable economy: How is technology linked to accessing economic outcomes? What are the personal, commercial, community, regional and national considerations? Explore digital service delivery in the context of economic outcomes. Breakthrough innovations and technology: What are the new technologies (e.g. ‘the Internet of Things’, robotics and drones, and 3D printing) and enablers of remote connectivity (e.g. last mile solutions, new innovations in backhaul, pico-cells, and mesh) and what are the social and economic consequences? See, feel and interact with the new technologies first hand. Engaged government: What are the active government programs and policies? What are the opportunities (e.g. National Stronger Regions, Indigenous Advancement Strategy, Northern Australia Development, and NBN Co) and what are the service provider perspectives? Contribute to moving the agenda forward and be equipped to adapt to the new environment. I thought it was really well organised and outcomes focused.
