Season preview for
Boys’ Track
The Broome High School Boys’
track team will be seeking their 15th
straight region title this spring.
Coach Skip Frye believes that the
2015 Centurions could be a very
good team. “We have a wellrounded team that has some good
depth in a lot of events.” Leading
the Broome squad is a strong group
of Seniors led by a pair of
defending State Champions.
Bavuier Jackson was the best
discus thrower in the state as a
junior and Desmond Anderson was
the best long jumper in the state as
a junior. Jackson will also throw
the Shot put and Anderson will also
be used in the sprints. Adding
depth to the throws will be Travis
Jeter, D’Marco Jackson, and
Bakeem Martin. Other returning
talented jumpers include Dahzon
Jackson, Nate Reid, and Lorenzo
Jeter. The Hurdle group is another
strength of the Centurions led by
Xavious King, Corey Collins,
Alonzo Bossie and Cameron
Adams. The distance squad will be
led by Region Champion and AllState XC runner Daniel Hurren
along with Isaac Owen, Cory
Justice and Byron Hurren.
The Centurions open with Home
meets on March 12th, March 26th,
April 2nd, and April 16th. Broome
will host the Spartanburg County
track and Field meet on April 22nd
and 23rd and the Region III AAA
Track and field meet on April 28th
and 29th.
