IN-STATE SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS
The North Carolina Beta chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon is offering 3 one-time Balanced Man Scholarships in the
amounts of $1,000, $500, and $250 for incoming NCSU students for the Fall 2015 semester. Any incoming
freshman male is eligible to apply. Applicants have no obligation to join or affiliate with SigEp to be eligible for the
scholarship. The application can be found online at http://ncstatesigep.com/page.php?pageid=12. Applications will
open in April 2015
Three Balanced Man Scholarships will be awarded to incoming male freshmen at UNC-Chapel Hill who exemplify
the sound-body, sound-mind principle of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. The first place winner will receive $1,000
while the second and third place winners will receive $750 and $250. There is no obligation to join Sigma Phi
Epsilon in order to win one of the three scholarships. The application is available online at www.sigepunc.com. All
applications must be postmarked by August 14, 2015. .
Four one-time $2,500 Light on the Hill Society Scholarships and two renewable $2,000 Light on the Hill Julius
Peppers Scholarship will be awarded to a first-year undergraduate African-American male or female who has been
admitted and plans to attend UNC-Chapel Hill beginning fall 2015. Recipients will be selected based on excellent
academic achievement, strong community service involvement, outstanding leadership qualities and essay

TEACHING SCHOLARSHIP
North Carolina Alpha Delta Kappa [Alpha Theta Chapter] Future Educator Scholarship. This scholarship is open to
any student who is currently graduating from a Wake County High School who expects to enroll in an institution of
higher education with a degree in education. Applicants must have a 4.0+ GPA and a minimum of 1500 SAT score
or 21 ACT score. Applications are available online at

Phebe Harlan Emmons Grant-in-Aid [Delta Kappa Gamma/Gamma Eta Chapter]. The Phebe Harlan Emmons
Grant-in-Aid of $1,000 is a gift from the Gamma Eta Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. This
Grant-in-Aid is given to a female Wake County senior planning to attend a four-year college or university in North
Carolina while seeking a degree in education. Applicants will be considered on the basis of academic achievement,
character, extracurricular activities, commitment to further education and demonstrated commitment to the
service of others. Applications are available in the Guidance Resource Center. Deadline: April 17, 2015.
NON-SCHOOL SPECIFIC SCHOLARSHIPS
Alice Madden Barton Scholarship Program offers scholarships to high school students, college students and others
who are interested in a career in cosmetology or barbering. The scholarships are offered twice a year. Interested
applicants may apply before the June and December deadlines. They may apply online and include information
that describes what area they want to pursue and why they should be awarded a scholarship. Recipients may use
the scholarship money at any cosmetology or barbering school they choose. Candidates must demonstrate a
passion for their career and a strong dedication to developing their skills in the area of cosmetology or barbering.
The scholarship is offered through Great Clips, the world's largest network of salons. The company is
headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and has 3,300 salons throughout the U.S. and Canada. The deadline for
this scholarship is June 30 and December 31 of each year, and the award amount VARIES. For more details,

Alpha Delta Kappa/Alpha Theta Chapter Miss Margaret Scholarship. This non-renewable scholarship is open to
any senior girl who expects to enroll in an institution of high education next fall and who is in the top 10% of class
and has a minimum 1800SAT score and 27 ACT score. Applications are available online at

Athnet Sports Recruiting Scholarship. Applicants must be a a current or former athlete at the high school or
college level and must be a current college student or high school senior entering college. The Athnet Scholarship
committee will award the $1,000 scholarship to the student whose 400-500 word essay best demonstrates how
the lessons they learned through sport have positively impacted them as they pursue their college education.

The Better Business Bureau serving Eastern North Carolina offers the Torch Scholarship program designed to
recognize students [high school juniors, seniors, and college undergraduates] who personify high ethics as
demonstrated through leadership, community service, overall personal integrity and academic excellence. To be
eligible, applicants must submit a 400-500 word essay, along with an application, transcript and a letter of
recommendation from a BBB Accredited Business. This year the essay topic is: While working at Joe’s Auto Shop,
you take an order for a new transmission. Your immediate boss knowingly provides you with a refurbished
transmission with which to fill the order. This transmission costs significantly less than the one being charge to the

Brentwood Extension & Community Association Scholarship. This non-renewable $500 scholarship will be
awarded to a senior planning to continue his/her education at a North Carolina college, university, community, or
technical school. Applicants should have a 2.5+GPA. Special consideration will be given to applicants seeking
careers in Family and Consumer Science or related fields. Applications are available in the Guidance Resource
Center, Room 1209. April 16, 2015 deadline.
Brower Youth Award for Environmental Leadership. This award recognizes youth age 13-22 who are keenly
interested in the environment and submit a project that demonstrates a plan to protect the environment and its
resources. The competition is open to youth in North America and U.S. Territories. The annual award reaches out
to youth who take a leadership role in protecting natural resources. Projects submitted will focus on decreasing
the use of natural resources and maintaining a healthy ecosystem. Work may include protecting wildlife, saving
water and taking the lead to get others involved in earth projects that have a positive impact on the environment
and the community. Six youth will be awarded a cash prize and a week in San Francisco Bay where they will enjoy a
camping trip and recognition at the awards ceremony. Their work will be featured in a short film. The deadline for

Global Lift Equipment Scholarship. Applicants for the Global Lift Equipment Scholarship be currently attending or
planning to attend a post-secondary institution in Canada or the US and have a 2.5+GPA. The non-renewable
scholarship is valued at $500 and applicants must submit a short story described on the application page. For

Insureon Small Business Scholarship is for students planning to attend college and who have also had experience
working for a small business. Students apply by completing an essay describing how working for a small business
has inspired them. The scholarship is open to any resident of the U.S. and U.S. territories or District of Columbia.
Students may choose to attend either a two-year or four-year public or private college or university located in the
U.S. or D.C. Parental consent is required of students under the age of 18. Two winners will receive scholarships
which can be used for any college education-related expense such as tuition, books and fees. Application consists
of completing an essay of 500-1,000 words that describes how a small business has changed their life. The
scholarship is offered by Insureon, a leading online insurance agent for small and micro businesses. Insureon is
headquartered in Dallas, Texas, with offices in Chicago and New York. The deadline for this scholarship is April 30,
2015, and the award amount is usually $2,500. For more details, visit www.insureon.com/insureonu/smallbusiness-scholarship*Realtor Foundation of the Triangle Community Service Scholarship. This non-renewable
scholarship, valued between $500 and $1,000, is awarded to seniors for outstanding achievement in the area of
community service while maintaining academic excellence. The funds may be used for any secondary schooling.
Factors considered are financial need, GPA, work experience, involvement in extra-curricular activities,
involvement in community service and responses to essay questions. The application form and guidelines are

Box. The application and supporting documents must be received no later than 5:00PM, Friday, April 17, 2015.
Sara Scholarship is available to female high school seniors who plan to attend college and are active in golf. The
renewable scholarship is awarded to 12 deserving female students each year. Students must have excellent
academic skills and demonstrate financial need. The scholarship may be applied toward tuition, room and board,
books and other college-related expenses. Students must have a grade point average of 3.1 or above. High school
seniors may apply. Applicants do not have to be skilled golfers but must have a strong interest in any capacity of
the sport of golf. The scholarship is funded by the Henry & Sara Sheehan Foundation. It was named in honor of
their daughter, Sara, who was an educated business woman, an avid golfer and an animal lover who graduated
from college in Lake Forest, Illinois. Sara's parents wanted to help other females who, like Sara, believe that golf
teaches important qualities such as patience and discipline. The objective of the scholarship is to help other female
students of good character attend college. The deadline for this scholarship is May 4, 2015, and the award

The Save A Life Memorial Scholarship. This $500 scholarship was created in memory of John Bennis and Justin
Monaco and is open to any high school senior that has been affected by mental illness. Applicants must be
admitted to a vocational school, community college or four-year college/university for the fall of 2013.

ScholarshipExperts.com All About Education $3,000 Scholarship. Applicants must be U.S. students 13 years of age
or older and respond [250 words max] to the question “How will a $3,000 scholarship for education make a

Shawn Carter Foundation Scholarship. These scholarships provide financial support to high school students as well
as undergraduate students entering college for the first time. The purpose of the scholarship is to help underserved students who may not be eligible for other scholarships. Students who have either graduated from high
school or earned their G.E.D. may apply. Minimum grade point average is 2.0. Students must have a strong desire
to go to college and earn their degree. Students must also have a desire to give back to their communities. The
scholarship fund was established by Gloria Carter and her son Shawn Carter (Shawn Carter is better known as hiphop rapper Jay-Z) to offer a unique opportunity to students who have been incarcerated or faced particular life
challenges but still want to pursue higher education. The program gives them a chance that most other programs
do not offer. The Carter Foundation is a firm believer in helping young people not only reach their career goals but
also establish a secure future. Students up to age 25 may apply. The scholarship can be used for tuition, room and
board, books, fees and other college-related expenses. All high school seniors, undergraduate students at two-year
or four-year institutions and vocational or trade school students are eligible. The deadline for this scholarship is
April 30, 2015, and the award amount is usually $1,500 - $2,500. For more details, visit

The 2013 Student-View Scholarship Program is offering $10,000 worth of scholarships to high school seniors who
plan to attend a four-year college, community/junior college or career school. Simply log on to www.studentview.com and complete a 15-20 minute application survey about colleges in this area. The scholarship will be
awarded via a random drawing of all completed application. Student Insights is a market research firm helping
colleges and universities communicate more effectively with high school seniors. The scholarship deadline is April
22, 2015.
Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority/Xi Theta Chapter Scholarship. Applicants for this $250 non-renewable
scholarship must be female; been accepted to an accredited college or university; and have demonstrated
leadership skills and commitment to community. The required scholarship form is posted online at http://www.xitheta.org. Deadline: April 30, 2015.
2014 U.S. Bank Scholarship Program. This program is awarding 40 $1,000 scholarships, and is available to high
school seniors (graduating in the 2012-2013 school year) and college undergraduates. Winners will be selected at
random.The terms and conditions for this program are as follows (from the U.S. Bank site):

Varsity Tutors Scholarship Contest. Varsity Tutors, a private academic tutoring & test prep provider, holds a
monthly $1,000 college scholarship contest where students must write an essay in response to a monthly prompt.
Visitors to the Varsity Tutors scholship webpage are able to vote via social media for submitted entries. The top
five entries with the most votes are reviewed by Varsity Tutors at the end of the month and one winner is
