Principal’s Message
Performing Arts
Congratulations to our Band, Orchestra, and Choir for
receiving Superior ratings in the past two weeks.
Band and Orchestra received the highest rating for
the Instrumental Skills Testing where every student in
Band and Orchestra was assessed by two district
music teachers. Bud Rank had 85% of its students
showed mastery of the skills. Our Choir participated
in the Elementary Choral Festival this week and also
received the highest rating by three judges on their
three selections performed. Excellent job from all of
our 5th and 6th grade students and teachers: Miss
Maas, Mr. Farkas, and Mr. Dailey.
SART Surveys
Thank you to the 90% of parents that took some time
to complete the 2015 SART Survey. This information
is used to continuously improve the academics, cocurricular programs, and operations at Bud Rank. Our
SART committee will now collect the data and in a
few weeks results will be published in the reporter.
Cheerleading
Our Cheerleaders recently took 1st place in the Clovis
West Showcase with an outstanding performance.
Congratulations to the girls and their coaches as they
wrap up their season at Clovis North this weekend.

2015-16 K-6th REGISTRATION
Kindergarten Registration has now begun for any students
who turn 5 by September 2, 2015. DO NOT HESITATE,
SPACE IS LIMITED.

community members too. Visit our office to pick up a
packet, or see the informational flyer on the BR website.
BUDGET COVER ARTWORK CONTEST
Students attending a Clovis Unified school are eligible to
enter the district’s “2015 Budget Cover Contest”. The
winning artwork with be on the front of the 2015-16
Budget Book. The deadline to submit the artwork and
application is Thursday, March 26th online. To enter, visit
www.cusd.com/business/contest.htm. This is another
opportunity for 5/6th graders to earn a Block BR point.

Central Cal VB Club in conjunction with CUSD Clovis
Community Sports & Recreation Department is sponsoring
a beginning level volleyball program for girls in grades 14. The program emphasizes basic motor skills, volleyball
technique and lots of FUN. The four week program will
be held on Tuesday & Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:30pm.
The sessions will be held at the Alta Sierra’s gym
beginning on March 24. The clinics feature coaches and
player from Central Cal Volleyball travel teams as
instructors. Players can sign up for 1 night a week for $50
or all 7 nights for $80. Download an entry form now!

Abby Grace Needham was a member of our community,
and sister to one of our fifth graders, Lily, who sadly
passed away last year from brain cancer. We would like
to honor her memory by creating a community service
project focused on collecting new and/or gently used
DVDs for Valley Children’s Hospital. Valley Children’s
currently has a cart full of DVDs that they send around to
each room for children staying there. With more DVDs,
they will be able to keep a few movie titles in each
room. The DVDs can be rated G, PG, or PG-13. We will
donate them in honor of Abby Grace.
If you would like to participate in this community service
project, please send new and/or gently used DVDs to
school no later than TUESDAY, MARCH 24. Abby Grace’s
birthday is on March 25, so we would like to make our
donation on her birthday.

Fifth grade has been talking about the Declaration of
Independence and how the writers wanted to make the
new nation a better place. We then shifted our
conversation to the importance of community service and
how our students can make our community a better
place.
The 7th Annual dinner & auction for CUSD Special
Education is coming soon! This is a great opportunity to
donate to great programs, have a good time, and make a
difference for many students.
