QUILTING CONTEST As part of its 50th anniversary celebrations, Dairy Farmers of Ontario is sponsoring a quilting contest that will provide an opportunity for Ontario dairy family members to showcase their creative skills. Entries will be judged in three categories: Rules 1. Wall hanging, featuring a dairy related theme (perimeter maximum 160” minimum 96”).Winning quilter will receive $250, second prize is $150 and third prize is $100. 2. Quilt Block of a stylized 50th Anniversary logo (12” by 12” with an unfinished edge and with the diameter of the logo itself being no more than 8”). The winning block will be awarded $200 with the second prize of $100 and third prize of $50. 3. Wearable Art, featuring a dairy related theme. A $100 prize will be awarded to the winning entry and $50 to the runner-up. 1. The contest is open to anyone connected with the Ontario dairy industry; including present or past producers, industry partners or employees. 2. Submit your entry form by October 20, 2014 3. Entries are to be delivered to the DFO office by December 1, 2014. 4. Items may be hand or machine quilted; pieced or appliqued. 5. Winning entries will reflect a combination of design and workmanship. 6. Results will be announced at the DFO Annual General Meeting in January 2015. 7. Decisions of the judges and the Quilt Committee are final. 8. The winning entry from the wall hanging category will be chosen to hang in the DFO office. 9. Entries in the Quilt Block category will be assembled into a large quilt to be displayed in the DFO office. This entry will remain the property of DFO with appropriate acknowledgement to quilters. 10. It is your responsibility to give credit to the original designer of your quilt pattern based on any applicable copyright. Entries for the Wall Hanging should be submitted as ready to hang. Entrants should baste a piece of fabric over any permanent name label on the quilt.
