Wisconsin is fortunate to have a long history of excellence in dairy. The dairy industry’s economic impact in the state continues to grow dramatically, toping over $43 billion in the latest annual figures. Yet, the industry also faces increasing challenges. The number of dairy farms is declining and the number of cows statewide is stagnant. “Brown County is one of the few counties in the state that continues to see growth in dairy herds,” explained Laurie Fischer, DBA Director of Dairy Policy. “We are sure that Mr. Macco will take Brown County’s sensible pro-dairy stance with him to Madison. This is what we need to ensure our dairy farms continue to grow and prosper. ” “Dairy farmers like me have much in common with other small business owners,” said DBA President Jerry Meissner. “The fact that John Macco has been involved with two family-owned businesses means he better understands what farmers are facing. The practical knowledge he has in business is just one more reason he would be an excellent representative.” About DBA The Dairy Business Association is an industry organization comprised of dairy producers, corporate as well as allied industry supporters. DBA promotes the growth and success of all dairy farms in Wisconsin by fostering a positive business and political environment.
