The Great Oregon Steam-Up Quilt Show
Quilters—here’s a new one for you! The Great Oregon Steam-Up Quilt Show is coming to The Great
Oregon Steam-Up in Brooks, Oregon July 26-27 and August 2-3, 2014. Quilts and quilt patterns of the
1920’s to 1940’s will be exhibited in many of the Antique Powerland museums that comprise the 62 acre
complex just off the I-5 in Brooks. “Reuse, repurpose, and wear it out” aren’t new ideas-- just come and
see the unique quilts created by Oregon women during the Roaring 20’s, the Great Depression, and the
World War II years! The Quilt Show is included with Steam-Up Admission: just $12.00 for adults.
The Great Oregon Steam-Up, always held the last weekend in July and the first weekend in
August, is the largest event at Antique Powerland. This Oregon tradition has drawn hundreds of
thousands of visitors and tourists since its inception in the 1970’s. Vintage steam and diesel
farming machinery, a working lumber mill, and intriguing small machinery exhibits by avid
hobbyists help to create this entertaining and educational event for every member of the family.
Additional demonstrations include threshing, flour milling, vintage fire apparatus and hundreds
of vintage vehicles. A kid’s pedal tractor pull, delicious old fashioned ice cream made by steam
driven engines, and a Youth Passport program round out fun experiences for kids of all ages. A
parade takes place each day at 1:30 PM and it includes vintage tractors, trucks, and
automobiles. An old-time trolley takes visitors around the 60-plus acres during the four days of
the show.
