By viewing webinar and video lessons online, fabricating instructor-guided sample projects, and participating in a private forum with fellow students and instructors, students learn the basics of operating a professional drapery workroom and earn the Career Professional™ designation for Window Treatment Fabrication. HS Students begin training the day they enroll, with online access to view lessons and post discussion questions any time day or night. In addition, each student receives training materials that include course handbooks, miscellaneous workroom supplies and a few helpful tools to complete required projects. The flexible approach allows students to learn at their own pace without leaving their home or workroom. Completion time varies based on skill level, experience, and effort. Students committing ten hours per week, generally complete the Window Treatment Fabrication Career Professional™ program in 8-12 weeks. However, all students have access to the lessons and online support for twelve months to complete the program. After twelve months, a $50 reactivation fee applies. Students will construct a cushion as they learn the proper operation of a walking foot machine and industrial serger. Students build on their basic upholstery skills learned in UP201 and are challenged with a variety of different inside back styles, such as attached pillow back, channel back, barrel back chairs and split back couches. Students leave with multiple patterns and samples so that they can confidently and efficiently approach any style. Waterfall patterns, multiple cushions and skirts are covered. UP501/UP502-Upholstered Cornices $1625 5-days Students experience a comprehensive and exhilarating hands- Updated! on program learning basic to advanced methods for cornice fabrication. Students use power tools and a variety of materials to cut and construct several full-size cornices and several small samples for a complete portfolio display kit. Beginning with a straight bottom cornice with plywood construction and progressing to shaped top and bottom cornices with bendable fiberboard construction, students explore creative upholstery techniques. In addition, the instructor shares measuring and pricing tips to prepare each student for the challenges of bay window angles and corner windows. UP601-Upholstered Ottomans $449 + $100 supply fee 2-days Designing and manufacturing custom ottomans highlights workroom creativity while increasing profitable add-on sales. In this two day program, students complete their own semi-attached pillow top ottoman on a pre-built frame and learn professional techniques for upholstery that can be applied to upholstered benches, bar stools, boxed dining room chairs, and other seating. In addition, students will build and upholster a round ottoman with a tailored skirt, mastering the construction and upholstery steps while using basic materials such as, bendable plywood, Skirtex™, foam and batting. Students learn how to use a jig saw, electric foam cutter, pneumatic stapler and a button press. Select from the list below, or call for customized program options. Step 1: Choose one of the following two-day workshops WT321-Ultimate Sample Kit (p.3) WT601A-Advanced Workroom Skills and Efficiency Part I (p.4) WT601B-Advanced Workroom Skills and Efficiency Part II (p.4) WT611-Advanced Swag Engineering (p.4) WT621-Old World Patterning Techniques (p.4) WT641-Ripplefold and Panel Track Workshop (p.4) BU201-Business Plan Workshop (p.5) BU301-Pricing Without Emotion (p.5) BU401-Designer-Workroom Relations (p.7) ID401-Professional Window Treatment Consultant (p.10) Step 2: Coordinate date, location, lunches and instructor lodging The group is responsible for naming a coordinator, choosing the dates of the workshop and securing a suitable location. The coordinator is responsible for providing lodging for the instructor and purchasing lunch and refreshments for attendees and instructor on workshop days. The coordinator receives 30% off tuition. If seven or more registrations are confirmed, coordinator receives 50% off tuition. Instructor travel and teaching fees are paid by CHF Academy. In addition, the CHF Academy will reimburse coordinator up to $14 per attendee, per day for lunch and refreshments (receipts required). Instructor lodging costs can be divided among attendees and added to registration fee. Step 3: Register 6-12 attendees CHF Academy will provide registration forms and an online registration link to promote attendance. A minimum of six paid registrations are required five weeks prior to scheduled workshop. Events can be kept private or the coordinator can elect to have the workshop publicized through the CHF Academy and the Drapery & Design Professional Network. Step 4: Consider adding a third day of hands-on education WT121-Working with Sheer Fabric (p.3) WT311-Fabric Embellishment Workshop (p.3) Private Training Create a training program specific to your business needs. Use the workroom facilities of the CHF Academy, or invite a CHF Instructor to your business location. Examples of private training topics include workroom skills and efficiency, employee training, product development, pattern drafting and business consulting. Private training fees start at $500 per day and vary depending on nature of training, size of group, and training location.
