CCM Clinical Veterinarian at Animal Care Services – The University of British Columbia
We are currently looking for a qualified full-time Clinical Veterinarian at the Centre for Comparative
Medicine (CCM) in Animal Care Services (ACS) at the University of British Columbia (UBC). The CCM
Clinical Veterinarian is responsible for providing veterinary care to a diverse group of research animals
primarily at the Centre for Comparative Medicine, reporting to the University Veterinarian in Animal
Care Services. CCM is a multi-species facility specialized in supporting animal research at UBC through
surgical support, training, diagnostic and pathology support as well as housing. It is unique to British
Columbia and is the largest facility of its kind in Western Canada. The CCM Clinical Veterinarian will be a
critical member of the ACS veterinary services team, liaising with researchers, industry partners and
their teams. S/he will manage all surgical and specialized technical projects and oversee a team of
technicians at CCM. The CCM Clinical Veterinarian is instrumental in ensuring animal welfare and
supporting research.
ACS, the largest animal care program in Western Canada and the second largest in Canada, is
responsible for providing research support to the animal-based research community associated with the
University of British Columbia and its affiliates through its veterinary services team, the compliance
team, the procurement team and its facilities. ACS is committed to providing excellence in research
