Program Description Internationally recognized researcher and speaker Dr. Miriam Labbok will speak on four timely breastfeeding topics at our next seminar. Babies are vulnerable to formula supplementation when in the NICU and when a breastfeeding mother returns to work. Dr. Labbok will be sharing a new analysis of the costs and benefits of using human milk in the NICU along with recommendations to help implement changes that are in line with the most current research. She will also present her program for supporting breastfeeding in childcare settings, including practical considerations of incorporating her 10-step approach. Often breastfeeding is seen as a maternal lifestyle choice, but what about the rights of the child? How might human rights conflicts be resolved when breastfeeding is part of the equation? The media reports new breastfeeding studies every month, often through a sensationalistic lens. Come and learn how to confidently evaluate breastfeeding research so as to avoid misrepresenting what we do, and do not, know.
