Reading of Franz Schubert`s Mass no. 2 in G Major

 Reading of Franz Schubert’s
Mass no. 2 in G Major
and
CAMMAC Ottawa-Gatineau Regional
Annual Meeting
Schubert's Mass in G was composed in less than a
week (March 2 to 7, 1815) and was originally
modestly scored, requiring only a string orchestra and
organ with choir and soloists. In response to the
work's great popularity, Schubert's brother Ferdinand
also wrote parts for woodwinds, brass and timpani. In
the 1980s, trumpet and timpani parts for the mass
were discovered at Klosterneuburg, Austria dated later
than Schubert's full score.
Laura Hawley is an Ottawa-based music educator,
accompanist, composer, and church musician. In 2014 she was
nominated for the prestigious Leslie Bell Prize for Choral
Conducting.
