Reading of Franz Schubert’s Mass no. 2 in G Major and CAMMAC Ottawa-Gatineau Regional Annual Meeting Schubert's Mass in G was composed in less than a week (March 2 to 7, 1815) and was originally modestly scored, requiring only a string orchestra and organ with choir and soloists. In response to the work's great popularity, Schubert's brother Ferdinand also wrote parts for woodwinds, brass and timpani. In the 1980s, trumpet and timpani parts for the mass were discovered at Klosterneuburg, Austria dated later than Schubert's full score.
