Time: 9 am -12:00 noon
Ages: 7-14 boy & girl participants
Equipment Needed: baseball glove, bat if you have one, come
dressed game ready (long pants or baseball pants if you have
them), water bottle/jug and baseball cap
Cost:
$50.00 (includes t-shirt if pre-registered prior to May

About: We will focus on the five tools of baseball: hitting for
power, hitting for average, throwing, fielding and speed/agilitybase running skills. Training stations will be position and skill
level specific divided into age groups. There will also be guest
speakers: Terry Tripp -Major League scouting in the American
League Central Division; Terry Tripp Jr. - scout for Atlanta Braves
and was drafted out of high school; Rich Hacker - former coach
St Louis Cardinals and Toronto Blue Jays; Tony Eitner- Rend Lake
head baseball coach; Todd Post - Kankakee Community College
head baseball coach; Curt Pourtwright- Rend Lake assistant
baseball coach; Andrew Bartman - head coach of Bethany
College; Chad Perschbacher-head coach At Carbondale H.S.;
Matt Duckworth of CCHS, Jason Fisher of Carterville and other
area high school coaches.
STAFF: We will have a staff of full time instructors from
professional baseball scouts to high school and college coaches.
The Camps for Kids staff will include: Mike Vanhorn-former
Kankakee High School head coach, Assistant at John A. Logan
College and years of semi-pro baseball in Carbondale as well
as American legion head coach in Carbondale and Kankakee.
Todd Poe-former college player and assistant baseball coach
at John Logan College. Currently an associate scout with the
Atlanta Braves and owner of Future Swings Academy in Marion,
IL. David Montfort-Former Saluki baseball player who was the
head coach at Southeastern Illinois College. Former Chicago
Cub scout. Cory Bailey - pitched professionally from 1993-2008.
His best year was with the Cardinals in 1996 while also being a
member of the Boston Red Sox, Giants, Royals and the Cubs in his
career. Eric Barrett - former major league pitcher for the Braves.
Larry Eastwood - former college player.
