St. Matthew’s Music Club - Theory is fun! Tuesday After-School Club 3.30-4.30pm Starting this term (Tues April 28st), CAMS Music Trust, will be running a new after-school Music Club A great opportunity to supplement young musicians’ education – whether they are already learning an instrument and don’t find time to do the accompanying theory – or whether they just want to broaden their musical horizons in the company of other, likeminded, musicians. Music Club is a 1-hour, fun-packed session of musical activity. Activities will include: Music Gym – a warm up for all participants – rhythm games, singing excercises and general musical skills Theory and General Musicianship training (for beginners and up to “Get your Grade 5 Theory" classes) Composition, improvisation and general musicianship Most students join as beginners and all that is required is a willingness to learn and join in. Location Sessions will take place on Tuesdays 3.30-4.30pm giving 10 minutes for everyone to come to the 2nd floor music room at 3.20pm and get settled and set up. The charity’s objects are specifically restricted to the following: for the public benefit the promotion of music and music education among children, young people and adults, in particular but not exclusively in Cambridgeshire. As an educator and director he has taught at many leading teaching institutions incl: University of Cincinnati) Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and London College of Fashion (University of the Arts) Guildhall School of Music and Drama; Queen Mary College (University of London); Royal Academy of Music; Royal College of Music; and the Opera Studio (Casa da Musica, Porto, Portugal). Mark founded English Pocket Opera Company in 1993 – a music charity that, amongst other things, produces opera for, by and with children – often up 50,000 in any one year. Subscriptions We ask that members pay either termly or annually. We will invoice for the full amount, plus any materials, after the second session.
