April 2015 Hello carers - and welcome to all our new carers, In March we held two retreats with the first one having carers heading off to Thuruna Bay for 4 days and the other retreat was at Hahndorf and Murray Bridge. Both retreats provided carers with the well-deserved break and time to relax. The feedback from both retreats have been positive. The next lot of retreats will occur in May. The ATSI retreat this time will be in Port Augusta but we will have carers travelling from the South East Country, Eyre and Metro Western regions. The other retreat will be at Rawnsley Park. Both retreats will be for two days, one night. If you are interested in attending either retreat please register your interest as soon as possible to make sure you have place. Coming up in April: A couple of people are coming from Sydney to SA and are wanting to consult with the community around Social Inclusion for Carers. The project aims to: document carers’ social exclusion; think about social inclusion in a way that can include the lived experiences of carers; provide evidence to inform policies which support carers to engage in many aspects of life domains; and develop indicators of social inclusion most relevant to carers. Dates for this consultation will be finalised soon and once confirmation is done, I will get the information out to carers on when and where this consultation meeting will occur. Port Lincoln Trip is from 20th to 22nd April 2015. I will be away from the Port Augusta during this time, however if you need to talk with someone and it can’t wait until I return on the 23rd, please do not hesitate to contact the office on 8641 1844. The staff will be happy to talk with you and assist you where possible. Please remember, booking or registering your interest in attending any groups or retreats is essential for catering and booking purposes. You can do this by calling 8641 1844 or popping into the office at Shop 1, 5 Young Street.
