Oriental Spring Ball
Everyone who attended our 11th annual
Black Tie Ball seemed to have a good
time. Attendance was lower than usual
due to being on Memorial Day weekend.
However, close to 150 dancing feet were
pancing during three hours of great music
programmed by Lib Johnson, Rockie
Troxler, and Linda Jackson.
Volunteers spent a couple hours decorating the Guilford Ballroom B, with Oriental
themed decorations., and much less time
taking down the decorations after the ball.
Thanks to Bob Perry, Bill North, and
Larry Jackson for being ushers and also to
Bob for printing the program. And thanks
to Joe and Eileen Leggio for setting up and
operating the all-important sound system;
placing the speakers on the elevated stage
provided great sound projection all across
the room. Also thanks to Bob Johnson for
leading the Pledge of Allegiance to the
Flag, to Rockie Troxler for blessing the
food, and Charlie Hafer for announcements. And our appreciation goes to our
two male dance escorts, Curtis Bass and
Tim Cannel.
Bob & Linda Perry generously offered
the decoration team the use of their home
to work on the decorations. Bob, with Bill
North, transported the decorations to and
from the Koury Center, and then moved
the materials back to storage to await our
next big event.
The decorating team consisted of Linda
Jackson, Linda Perry, Eileen Leggio, Lib
Johnson, and Cherrie Wheaton. Linda
Jackson lead in collecting and/or creating
decorations.
Al Kamperman and Lynda Williams
handled reservations and seating arrangements. The decorating team, plus others
such as Joe Dolata and Bob Johnson,
worked on the placement of the decorations in the ballroom Saturday morning.
The decorating team, as well as Rockie
Troxler and Fran Randolph and others,
removed the decorations after the event.
We will strive to hold the 2016 Black
Tie on a weekend other than Easter, Mother’s Day, or Memorial Day.
Photos from the ball are on page 2.
