Some highlighted selections are: Cuphea micropetala – Striking scarlet and yellow tubular flowers for full sun. Highly attractive to hummingbirds. Blooms 6+ months in Santa Cruz, and quite drought tolerant. Heuchera – Incredible range of foliage colors that pair and contrast well with other perennials in full sun to part shade. All make delicate, refined cut flowers, producing slender stems 12”–18” tall, topped with small, bell-‐shaped flowers. Subtle but striking in the garden and in bouquets alike. Plants are quite tolerant of dry shade. Perovskia atriplicifolia – Russian Sage – Striking lacy, gray foliage, lavender blossoms offer great forage for bees. Full sun, very drought tolerant. Salvia brandegei– Large California native sage, white flowers in whorls early spring to early summer. Great nectar/pollen resources and very drought tolerant.
