Hedgehog Lacers
16th Annual Lace-In
September 7-8, 2013
The members of the Hedgehog Lace Guild invite you to attend
our annual lace workshop.
We have a wonderful group of teachers offering a variety of
classes.
Classes
100 Beginning and Continuing Bobbin Lace ~ JoDee Kane
Hearts, Hearts, Hearts
Come learn a lovely Torchon piece which includes: Torchon Ground, French Fans, Half Stitch Hearts, Rose
Ground, and an interesting beading for adding ribbon. This piece can be used for a bookmark, a bracelet, a
napkin ring, or a one-sided wedding garter if done on a roller pillow.
This class also welcomes first time beginners that will do a nice bookmark.
101 Milanese Lace — All levels ~ Louise Colgan
Milanese Lace is characterized by special decorative stitches that become integral
features of each design. The creative nature of this type of lace makes it suitable for
both traditional and contemporary interpretation.
A variety of projects will be offered to cover all levels of Milanese techniques.
Students will be given the option of using colored threads to make their own unique
pieces from the selected patterns.
A solid foundation in basic Bobbin Lace skills is required. Diagram-reading skills are
also recommended.
NOTE: Continuing “Louise” projects are also welcome.
102 Romanian Point Lace - All levels~ Sylvia Murariu
Romanian Point Lace is a tape and needle-lace art form dating from the 18th century.
A crocheted cord is basted on to the pattern, and then delicate needle lace stitches are used to fill the space
between cords. After the completion of connections and stitches, the basting thread is cut off and the lace
removed from the pattern. The lace is reversible and the pattern is re-usable.
Our study includes the traditional and modern
technique as well as some of the most elegant needle
lace stitches.
Students will discover the secret of modifying the
needle lace stitches as well as crocheting the cord and
making a tassel.
A history lecture and open discussions will make the
course more constructive, and will be a stimulating
challenge.
Students will have their choice between the Snowdrop
or the Victorian Fan.
There will be a $25.00 kit fee payable at the time of the class.
103 Bedfordshire Lace — All levels ~ Jean Doig
Advanced Project— This is a
picture of a piece I did from
Barbara Underwood’s book. I
invite advanced students to pick
a piece they want to do from
any Bedfordshire book and let
me know which book and page
number. If all they have is a
pattern they will then need to
email a copy of it prior to class
so I can work up a lesson for it.

104 Tatting — Advanced beginners and up ~ Polly Womack
TATTING JEWELRY AND BEADS
Bling to wear, to give and to make just for fun!
We will start with two simple medallions that may become earrings or a necklace,
in order to review some of the techniques that are used to make jewelry shaped
and special.
After the two medallions, each participant may choose from a wide variety of
patterns provided. Or bring a pattern you have wanted to tat or would like help
with. It will be interesting to see the choices in the projects.
You will receive a letter with more specific suggestions for patterns, threads,
beads and other findings.
