Examples can be found in classical realism through impressionism and into the present day. Karl, who often paints musicians performing their music, will then create a painting of a local musician while the class watches. Instructor: Karl Leitzel is a full-time professional artist and partner/ resident artist at the Green Drake Gallery. He is the founder of Landscape Artists International. He will introduce types, parts, tuning, holding and fingering and provide ukes to have the class immediately strumming simple chords to simple tunes. Also included is listening to past and present popular players like Ukulele Ike and Arthur Godfrey. Instructor: Stu Dance, who got his first ukulele in 1948 and has been playing it ever since, probably has one of the largest collections of uke music available today. Northerners feared that freedmen would get no rights at all. The meaning and propriety of Reconstruction Amendments to the Constitution were bitterly debated and rarely enforced. Southern anger over devastating human losses and economic and political disorder long endured. Reconstruction yielded more animosity than the war did. Instructor: Jim Dungan has taught numerous Civil War courses for OLLI. He majored in history at the undergraduate and master’s levels. Two experienced history professors will combine lectures and discussion in presenting the role of the Middle Sea in the Middle Ages, possibly offering lessons useful to understanding today’s world. She was captured by NLF forces during Tet, 1968, and held for two months. She has made several trips back, including four to volunteer as a teacher-aide for English in Quang Ngai, 2008-2011. Instructor: Marjorie Nelson, a life-long Quaker, graduated from Earlham College, Indiana University Medical School.
