Type/Duration of Appointment 10 months Start Date 1 September 2015 30 June 2016 Job Reference VA 11/2015 Scope The FMO manages the EEA Grants and Norway Grants on behalf of Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. The Grants contribute to reducing disparities in the European Economic Area and to strengthening bilateral relations between the three donor states and the 16 beneficiary states in Central and Southern Europe. Key areas of support are environment, climate change, civil society, health, research, scholarships and the justice sector. The FMO handles the daytoday operations and is in close contact with the donor and beneficiary states. The FMO has 53 staff members and is a separate entity from the EFTA Secretariat in Brussels. The aim of the traineeships is to provide junior civil servants and other qualified applicants with opportunities for training and familiarisation with the work and functions of the FMO. Field of work The trainees will be assigned to a specific unit of the FMO according to the academic field of specialisation, personal preferences and career objectives. Qualifications • University degree within law, economics, statistics, political science, international relations or other relevant and equivalent experience. • Knowledge of standard office IT applications (Microsoft Office). Experience • Work experience of 12 years in a governmental service and knowledge of the EEA agreement would be an advantage. Skills • An analytical mind with ability to draft good quality documents in English. • A flexible and motivated team player and capable of taking on a wide variety of tasks, both complex and more basic. Languages • Fluency in both spoken and written English. • Working knowledge of French is an advantage. Employment Terms Traineeships at the FMO are open to nationals of the EFTA and EU Member States. Trainees receive a flat monthly allowance (net of taxes) of EUR 1 465. Accommodation in individual flats will be provided by EFTA.
