Employee of the Month: Zena Leum Congratulations to Zena Leum. Zena has been a resident assistant here for one year and two months. Her favorite part of the job is knowing she is making an impact for the residents. Her motivation is helping to improve her residents’ life. Zena is most proud of her two daughters and her husband. Zena started in health care after she took care of her grandmother, who was like her mom. Outside of work Zena likes to read, play video games and spend time with her family. She never leaves home without her keys, her teaser and her lucky starfish earrings. Zena’s daughter gave her the lucky starfish earrings. Wise words from Zena: “Every day is a new day.” Welcome Deb! Welcome Deb to our Stoneybrook family. Deb was a private caregiver to one of our residents for many years before she got hired on as the administrative assistant. Don trained her well, and she will do well. Make sure to give her a warm Stoneybrook welcome! Farewell to Don Thank you, Don, for four years of your hard work and smiles. Don is now on the road to retirement. Don has always been a wonderful team member. First, Don was our bus driver and then he became the administrative assistant. He has a knack for remembering staff anniversaries and thanking the staff for all our hard work. Don is always a welcoming face to greet us at the front desk. Don plans on using his free time to travel, work on household projects and read. He promises to visit us often. Don is most proud of his twin daughters. Wise words Don lives by: “Act justly, love tenderly, walk humbly.” Don’s motivation is the people he serves and providing excellent service to them. The best part of the job for Don is all the people, including but not limited to the residents, the residents’ families, coworkers, the caregivers and the people coming to deliver supplies. Welcome and Congrats to Kristina Kristina is our new Activities Coordinator. Kristina starting work here almost two years ago as Stephanie’s assistant. It was only a temporary position, so she joined our staff as an R.A. Kristina worked day shift, Noc shift and swing shift. At the end of February she was hired as the Activities Coordinator. This has always been Kristina’s favorite part of the job. She Kristina, Lorenzo, loves spending time with Kristina and Maggie, rocking their flowers Lorena, Liana the residents and bringing them joy. Wise words Kristina lives by: “They may not remember what you said or what you did, but they will always remember how you made them feel.” Kristina’s proudest accomplishment is being an Olan Mills photographer and being the Stoneybrook Activities Director. Outside of work Kristina spends time with her big family, her sister, her two nieces and nephew and her boyfriend. She is very excited about the position and hopes to bring something new to all the residents. Feel free to suggest new fun activities or places to go. Welcome Waggers We have a fun program once a month when therapy dogs come out and hang out with us. They can be petted and snuggled, or you can just enjoy their company. They will be here the fourth Tuesday of every month. Bill and Miyoko loving on the dog Lucy and Karen petting the puppy Shamrock Crafts and Green Cookies We made shamrocks to hang on our doors and green cookies to go along with our green shakes for St. Patrick’s Day. The shamrocks were decorated with colorful patches. Keep an eye out for them hanging on doors. We also made pistachio cookies. They smelled so yummy baking, and we had so much fun making them. Cost is $5 for pancake and sausage and $4 for omelet. Sign up at the front desk. We went last year and had a blast! The Hills Are Alive With the Sound of Music Friday night we went to see the Philomath Middle School production of “The Sound of Music.” I was amazed at the singing talents of the middle schoolers. The stage was bright and colorful. They had a dazzling effect of silhouette stained glass windows on a white curtain. The had a huge, talented cast full of wonderful costumes. It was themed with love. They looked wonderful and sounded even better. Love was in the air. The Stoneybrook singers meet every Wednesday at 4:15 p.m. in the Dining Room. The choir is led by Barbra and accompanied by piano.
