QUILTS FROM THE VILLAGE Village Quilters welcomes you to our 2012 Quilt Show. We hope you are inspired and encouraged by our heartfelt and handmade treasures. We have an open membership policy and celebrate all different ability levels. Our meetings include special presentations, show and tell, a monthly raffle basket (money goes to a charity) and much more. We meet on the second Monday of the month (September through June) at 7 p.m. at the Blanchard Alliance Church, 1766 South Blanchard Street, Wheaton. Gift of Hope is a not-for-profit organization that coordinates organ and tissue donation and supports families of donors in the northern three-quarters of Illinois and northwest Indiana. All monetary donations are used for public education and outreach. These items include miniquilts, potholders, bags and more! The silent auction is in the hallway just beyond the main entrance to the Quilt Show. There will be a different set of items for the auction each day. To participate, simply put your name, phone number and bid on the form for the item you wish to bid on. Winners will be notified at the end of each day. Hours: Friday, April 27 Saturday, April 28 10 am- 6 pm 10am – 3pm Vote For Your Favorites! As you walk around and view the entries, please choose your favorite in each category and vote. Your ballot is on your quilt show map Entries are numbered and color coded. Also vote for your favorite entry in the entire show and for the best hand quilted item. Look for the sticker on the quilt tag designating 'Hand Quilted'. Our challenge to our members for this year's Quilt Show was to make a Redwork Quilt. Members were asked to create a quilt with hand embroidery in any color. Piecing and quilting could be done by hand or machine. Visit the Quilt Challenge Section of the show to see how hand embroidery is used in these beautiful quilts. Opportunity Quilts This year's raffle quilts are designed by Weeks Ringle and Bill Kerr. These quilt patterns are available in their book Quilts Made Modern. The 3 quilts "Beach Glass", "Big Dots" /with "Birds on a Wire" backing, and "Improv" were collective projects worked on by many people within the guild, and machine-quilted by Natalie S. Mouw. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. Drawings will take place Saturday afternoon at 3:30. You need not be present to win. Winners will be contacted immediately.
