Results FYI

Relationship Subscription - Results are populated if you are subscribed to receive results based on a specific
relationship with the patient, even though you did not write the orders or sign the notes. Results FYI will display
in the Message Center – Results FYI section.
o Under the Lifetime Category
 Care Coordinator (Lifetime)- must declare
 Primary Care Physician – cannot self-declare and relationship is designated in IDX
 RN/LPN Care Coordinator (Lifetime)- must declare
 Specialty Care Provider (Lifetime) – must declare
For example, a Specialty Provider (Lifetime Relationship) can be used to receive results that you did not place on the
patient yourself. An attending physician may want to receive the results of orders placed on a patient by a resident.
When Results FYI is set up correctly it would enable this to happen.



Actual, Attending, Admitting and Referring – encounter relationships established in IDX
Otherwise patient relationship must be declared when opening the patient’s chart
Ad Hoc Subscription – Results can be requested on specific patients without a defined relationship (e.g. lifetime
relationship) with the patient.
Ad Hoc Results – the banner bar will show whether a provider has subscribed to Ad Hoc Results for a patient
Results Folder – The Results folder in Message Center displays the results of the orders you have placed yourself as the
provider or the results from the orders someone else has placed on your behalf. Results FYI is a different folder.
Configuring Your Inbox to Display Results FYI
Click the Message Center button on the toolbar.
Then click Inbox\Manage Configuration on the
menu toolbar.

Check the Results FYI checkbox if it is
not already checked so that it will
appear in your Message Center menu.
These words represent the column
headings. Highlight them and use the left
and right arrows to Add or Remove
headings or use the up and down arrows
to re-sequence the headings.
Click OK to save
your settings.

Creating Subcategory Folders for Normal, Critical and Abnormal Results FYI
If you want to subcategorize your results; for example if you want all the critical results to display together in one folder.
Then you will need to check the desired boxes on the left under the main heading Results FYI and also check the boxes
on the right under associated items.
Check the main checkbox beside Results FYI
and then check the subcategories.
You will also need to check the boxes under
Associated Items.
Setting Up Results FYI Subscriptions through Patient Relationships
Click the Message Center button on the
toolbar.
Then click Inbox\Manage Configuration on the
menu toolbar.

Click the FYI Results
Subscription tab.
Note: Please do NOT select the Attending
Physician and Primary Care Physician
choices on the Available Prescriptions
panel. These choices will be removed in
the near future.
Click the Add button.
To set up a Relationship Subscription
leave the Type on Relationship
Type a name for the relationship
subscription in the Name field. Type a
description if desired.
Type a description if desired.
Select a Lifetime Relationship filter if
appropriate or select an Encounter
Relationship filter if the Lifetime
Relationships don’t apply.

Lifetime Relationship Filter – This filter applies to anyone who declares a lifetime relationship with the patient (e.g. Care
Coordinator (Lifetime) or RN/LPN Care Coordinator (Lifetime) via the Assign a Relationship window. Or this is entered
through IDX (e.g. Primary Care Physician) as a lifetime relationship and the end user is automatically assigned a Lifetime
Relationship with the patient. Specialty Care Provider (Lifetime) relationship was created for specialty physicians, in
order to follow their patients and keep track of their results.
Encounter Relationship Filter – do not select anything or choose resident physician for example. Care delivery filter will
give you results for every patient you have ever entered the chart for as Care Delivery.
Late Postings – in order to get the Late Postings filter to open you must select an Encounter Relationship filter. If you
decide you don’t need the Encounter Relationship Filter you may uncheck it once you select the Late Postings filter. Not
true for Ad Hoc Subscriptions.




Exclude – It will exclude the results posted for this visit after the date/time of discharge.
Include – It includes all results posted on the visit. Recommended way to do it.
Exclusive – Displays only the results for this visit that are posted after the discharge date/time. For example, a
culture is not finalized at the time of discharge.
The subscription remains affective up to 90 days after your relationship ends for that visit. If you have a lifetime
relationship then you will get the results anyway. This applies to the Relationship Subscription Only.
Event Types – The Event Types defaults to Exclude. Switch it to Include if configuring Event Sets.
In order to include Event Sets – Click Add, which brings up the event set hierarchy for Pathology, Radiology, Diagnostic
Reports, Clinic Notes, Admission Notes and Emergency Services Notes, etc. If you choose Pathology overall then you
may want to select Exclusive so you don’t see all the inpatient results but you do see the post discharge results.
(Navigating the event set hierarchy can be challenging for end users because it’s not always intuitive where to click for
specific results. IT is investigating to see if there is an easier approach to selecting results from the hierarchy).
Encounter Types – Switch to Include and choose an encounter relationship if necessary.

Ad Hoc Results

Note: You can only have one Ad Hoc Subscription. You can have multiple Results FYI subscriptions.
Set up ad hoc list name, event set hierarchy, etc.
Open patient chart – on banner bar click on the Ad hoc link. It will say “Not subscribed” if patient is not on your list. A
window comes up that allows you to have an indefinite relationship with the patient or set up a specific timeframe.
Once you click OK the patient will appear on your Ad Hoc list. You can see the list by going to Message Center; Inbox \
Manage Ad hoc List. You can see the list of patients; add patients from this window (have to do Person Search – so it is
probably easier to go into the patient chart and add it from the banner bar). You can also remove a patient or modify
the subscription for the patient.
To Modify the Ad Hoc Results List, click on Inbox  Manage Ad Hoc List
To add a patient to the list, select Add Patient
To delete a patient from the list, select Remove Patient
The Modify Patient Subscription tab will enable the user to expire or extend the subscription on a patient

Even if you delete the patient list and then start a new Ad hoc list the subscribed patients from the other list will show
up on your new list.
