Everyday Heroes – Honor one. Save one. Be one.
May 9, 2015, will mark our 18th Annual Komen Central Virginia Race for the
Cure®. This year, we are honoring everyday heroes; those who support the
breast cancer fight in any way – whether as a co-survivor, sponsor, donor,
Race participant, caregiver or friend. And without a doubt, the breast
cancer survivors who inspire us every day are our superheroes!
Since 1998, the Komen Central Virginia Race for the Cure has been pivotal
in our ability to provide over $5 million to community organizations for
services to our neighbors in need. Additionally, we have contributed over
$1.7 million to fund cutting edge research to find treatments and cures for
breast cancer.
You, the participants of the Race for the Cure, made this possible.
Without your ongoing support, community grants and research
contributions would stop. We consider you all to be our everyday heroes.
THANK YOU!

In Color
Visit the Race for the Cure’s In Color Station on Brown’s Island.
Presented by the Komen Central Virginia Teen Advisory Board, it
joins social media, compelling conversation, and bold Holi
powder that participants wear in support of breast cancer
awareness. At the In Color Station, you will answer a few basic
breast health questions, be colored with vibrant powder as you
walk down our color row, and then be photographed. The In Color
photos are posted on the Komen Central Virginia Facebook page
for you to download and keep, helping you remember this unique
Race Day experience.
The Teen Advisory Board offers teens an opportunity to serve their community in a
meaningful way, develop leadership skills, and be part of a powerful movement in the
search for the cures for breast cancer.
