South East Scotland Breast Screening Programme is currently inviting women in the Leith area for Breast Screening. If you are aged between 50 and 70 years and are registered with a GP practice you will automatically receive an invitation by post. If you are over 70 you can phone the centre for an appointment The mobile screening unit will be parked in Scotmid Car Park Please attend for screening as early detection of Breast Cancer can save lives. 80% of all breast cancers occur in women over the age of 50.The older the women the higher the risk. Be Breast Aware (Breast cancer care) Changes to be aware of: nipples - if a nipple becomes inverted (pulled in) or changes position or shape rashes - on or around the nipple discharge - from one or both nipples skin changes - puckering or dimpling swelling - under the armpit or around the collarbone (where the lymph nodes are) pain - continuous, in one part of the breast or armpit lump or thickening - different to the rest of the breast tissue.
