Art. E708 (6 ounce solid and 41/2 ounce multicolor skeins):
One-Color: 10 (12, 14, 16) ounces No. 9808
Painted Desert.
Two-Tone: 5 (6, 7, 8) ounces each No. 9316 Puff CA
and No. 9334 Café Au Lait CB.
Knitting Needles: U.S. Sizes 13 [9mm] and 15
[10mm].
2 Stitch holders. Yarn needle.
GAUGE: In Stockinette Stitch (K 1 row; P 1 row):
8 sts = 4"; 12 rows = 4" with larger needles. CHECK
YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain
the gauge given.
To Fit Bust: 30 (34, 36, 38)".
Finished Bust Measurement: 34 (38, 42, 46)".
ONE COLOR
BACK: With larger needles, cast on 34 (38, 42, 46) sts.
Row 1 (Right Side): P2, * K2, P2; rep from * across.
Row 2: K2, * P2, K2; rep from * across.
Rep Rows 1 and 2 for pat until 141/2" from beg, end
wrong side row.
Shape Armholes: Keeping continuity of pat, bind
off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Working first and last
st of each row as Knit, dec 1 st each end of next 2
right side rows – 24 (28, 32, 36) sts. Work even as
established until armhole measures 61/2 (71/2, 8, 9)",
end wrong side row.

Divide for Neck: Work across 9 (11, 12, 13) sts, turn
and put rem sts on a holder. Dec 1 st at neck edge
every right side row until 6 (8, 9, 10) sts rem. Work
even until front measures same as back to shoulder,
end wrong side row. Bind off.
With right side facing, leave center 6 (6, 8, 10) sts on
a holder, join yarn to rem 9 (11, 12, 13) sts and work
to end. Complete to correspond to first side, reversing shaping.
FINISHING-Collar: Sew right shoulder seam. With
right side facing and smaller needle, pick up and
K11 sts down left neck edge, K across 6 (6, 8, 10) sts
on front holder, pick up 11 sts up right neck edge, K
across 12 (12, 14, 16) sts on back holder – 40 (40, 44,
48) sts. Work in K1, P1 ribbing for 4 rows. Change to
larger needle and work as follows:
Next Row: P1, * K2, P2; rep from * to last 3 sts; K2,
P1.
Next Row: K1, * P2, K2; rep from * to last 3 sts; P2,
K1.
Rep last 2 rows until collar measures 61/2". Next
Row: Work in pat as established, inc 10 sts evenly
spaced across. Bind off loosely.
Sew left shoulder seam. Sew collar seam, reversing
for turn-back. Sew side seams.
TWO-TONE
Work same as One Color except work first 11" of
back and front with CA and remainder of back and
front and collar with CB.
