Grand Mural Call for Artists - Charlotte Chamber of Commerce

Grand Mural
Call for Artists
Project: The Charlotte Chamber’s quarters have undergone a major renovation to create a space that is
welcoming, modern, innovative, energized and captures the spirit of Charlotte. A key component of the
space will be a grand mural image which will greet visitors at the second floor elevator lobby.
The approximate dimensions for the mural wall are 9’0” high by 22’10” long. This area coordinates with art
lighting installed in the 2nd floor lobby area.
Eligibility: Visual artists ages 18 and up and residing in the Charlotte Region including Alexander, Anson,
Catawba, Cabarrus, Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Stanly, Union (NC) counties, or
Chester, Chesterfield, Lancaster and York (SC) counties are invited to submit an image that will be
reproduced digitally on the wall.
Theme: Submissions should capture an iconic image of Charlotte. While this theme immediately brings to
mind the skyline, other concepts or creative interpretations will be considered as long as they are unique to
Charlotte.
Exposure: The Charlotte Chamber is visited by 1000’s of members, visitors and economic development
prospects each year. In addition, the Grand Mural will receive exposure on both social media and on the
Chamber’s website. The Grand Mural is sponsored by MetLife.
Honorarium: An honorarium of $2,000 will be paid to the selected artist for use of the image limited to
Grand Mural promotion for a three-year period beginning June 9, 2015.
Submission Process: Interested artists should select a single image for consideration. The image must be
available to reproduce at a high resolution of 1200 dpi. Due to size restrictions on the online submission
platform, artists will submit a lower resolution image for jury/selection but must be prepared to provide a
high res version if selected.
