Chasco Families,
First and foremost we want to recognize our 3rd, 4th and 5th Grade
students for the outstanding job they did with this year’s state assessments.
The policies and procedures they must adhere to can be demanding but our
students rose to the challenge and took care of business. We also want to
thank our wonderful staff for all they do. Although Teacher Appreciation is a
week, we appreciate them everyday.
The end of a school year is always an exciting time for everyone but
everyday is another opportunity for students to gain knowledge. We want
to remind students that school expectations are still in place and should be
followed at all times. We know our teachers will find ways to incorporate
activities that are not only educational but fun as well. Our kindergarteners
had a fabulous time at Robert K. Rees Memorial Park learning patterns
found in nature. The students rotated around to various stations to look for
and create their own patterns using sand, bubbles, shells and leaves.
There has been a lot of information in the news lately about End of
Course Exams and how the district is addressing these assessments.
Please know that we are following the guidelines set by both the School
District and the State.
We are looking forward to our Chorus performance of “A Kid’s Life”
on Thursday, May 7th and the 5th Grade trip to Epcot on May 8th. Ask your
students about what may be coming up for them. It has been a great year
and we know everyone is going to continue to do their best until the last day
of school.

Attention 5th Grade Families! You are invited to a very special 5th grade breakfast. The breakfast will be held on Tuesday, May 12th from 8:15-‐9:15AM in the elementary school cafeteria. This free breakfast is for the entire family! The focus of this event will be to help prepare parents for their child’s transition to middle school. We will also be reviewing what we talked about during our monthly middle school meetings that were held throughout the school year. We hope to see you there! If you are unable to make it to our breakfast, don’t forget about the upcoming Parent University event, hosted by Chasco Middle School, scheduled for Wednesday, May 20th from 5:30-‐7:30PM in the cafeteria. There will be a Student Art Show on Thursday, May 21st from 6:30 to 8:00pm. ALL

from dancing and stop by for a few minutes.
News from the P.E.A.C.E. garden -‐ Many students par:cipated in Earth day plan:ng and weeding in the garden. We currently have 3 new framed garden beds and are growing lots of leBuce, radishes, green beans, sunflowers and zinnias. Our biggest project is to expand our plan:ngs of Milkweed to provide an essen:al food source for Monarch buBerflies. Step by step, seed by seed, we are working our way towards schoolyard habitat cer:fica:on. This year Chasco also par:cipated in the Pasco County Bluebird Project. Our first batch of baby bluebirds hatched successfully, and we are hoping for a second batch this summer.
