Classes
8 am – Percussion Ensemble. For
grades 7 and up. Instructor: Jed Blodgett. From flamacues to pataflaflas this
class is cool! You'll get a chance to
hone your technique while playing
some of the funnest music around. No
prior experience necessary, though
some musical background helps. Bring
sticks if you got 'em, don't if you don't.
9 am - Wind Symphony for Students & Staff.
For grades 9 and up. Instructor: Shannon
Roberts. This all-new Staff/Student ensemble
will rehearse all week and perform at the
9 am – Flute Technique. For grades 7 and
up. Instructor: Erin Murphy. Do you sometimes get frustrated with learning difficult
technical passages? Would you like to find
an easier, more efficient way to advance
your flute playing and adapt a smooth and
seemingly effortless technique? If so, this
class is for you! This class will help you to
adapt beneficial practice strategies and
learn new technique exercises to improve
your flute playing.
9 am – Clarinet Technique. For grades 7
and up. Instructor: Blake McGee. This
class will work on building technique for
clarinet players. We'll work on scales, fingerings, articulations and making a good
sound.
9 am – Saxophone Technique. For
grades 7 and up. Instructor: Jason Ogg.
For students who have completed one
or more years in school band, or private
lessons. We will work on tone production, intonation, and helpful tips to improve your ability, regardless of what it
is!
9 am – Upper Brass Technique. For
grades 7 and up. Instructor: Seretta
Hart. For students who have completed
one or more years in school band, or
private lessons. Get ready to impress
yourself! We will be covering scales, exercises, articulations and more, and by
the end of the week you will sound your
very best!
10 am – Percussion Technique. For
grades 7 and up. Instructor: Jed Blodgett. This
is the real deal! If you want to know what the
pros know that everyone else wishes they
knew, this is the place for you. You don't even
need your own sticks (though they help). Just
be ready to hit stuff, we’ll take care of the rest.
10 am – Flute Ensemble. For grades 8 and up
(or played in school band for 2 or more years).
Instructor: Erin Murphy. Perform in an ensemble just for flutes! Students will have the opportunity to perform music that was written
exclusively for large and small assortments of
flutes. Piccolo, alto, and bass flutes are also
welcome! Class performs at the end of the
week.

Camp! Class performs at the end of the
week.
10 am – Saxophone Ensemble. For grades 8
and up. Instructor: Jason Ogg. For saxophones of all shapes and size. You won’t believe how great a room full of saxophones can
sound until you make beautiful and fun music
with ONLY saxophonists! Class performs at
the end of the week.
10 am – Low Brass Technique. For grades 79. Instructor Shannon Roberts. This course
will assist you in achieving a high level of technique on tuba, trombone, baritone and euphonium. Come join the fun and learn how to use
your embouchure with the newest pro techniques!
10 am – Brass Ensemble. For grades 8 and
up (or played in school band for 2 or more
years). Instructor: Seretta Hart. For all brass instruments. Students are split into small ensembles and will perform at the end of the
week. Playing in small "chamber" groups like
these can be some of the best and most musically rewarding experiences for musicians.
Chamber playing helps perfect many important skills.
10 am – Clarinet Ensemble. For grades 8 and
up (or played in school band for 2 or more
years). Instructor: Blake McGee. Join together
in a small ensemble of like instruments to create a beautiful choir! Class performs at the end
of the week.
11 am – Jazz Band. For students grades 9
and up. Instructor: Shannon Roberts. This is a
combined student/staff ensemble. Traditional
big band experience, with rhythm section work
and occasional solos. Learn to play jazz styles
alongside like-minded musicians in one of the
most popular ensembles. Preferred instruments include saxophone, trombone, trumpet,
guitar, piano, drumset, and bass. All others
considered. The Jazz Band performs at the
Grand Gala concert on Friday night.
11 am – Irish Flute. For grades 8 and up. Instructor: Erin Murphy. See Folk.
11 am – Reedmaking for Double Reed Players. For grades 7 and up. Instructor: Elizabeth
Young Rennick. This class is for students who
play the oboe or bassoon. Learn to make and
adjust your own oboe or bassoon reeds. At
the end of the week, students will take home 2
working reeds. Materials fee - $10.
2 pm – Hardcore Hand Drumming. For grades
7 and up. Instructor: Jed Blodgett. Congas
and Bongos and Djembes oh my! This class is
a little Cuban, a little African, and a whole
bunch of awesome! We'll focus on the most
popular hand drums around and show you
how to go from zero to 'OMG LOOK AT THAT
GUY PLAYING CAJON HE'S SO COOL!".
(Bring your own drum if you can. If not, we'll
hook you up).
2 pm Jazz Improv. For grades 7 and up. Instructor: Shannon Roberts. Designed for students interested in the basics of Jazz improv
of all levels. You will be given a practice CD
and a practice method.
3 pm – Electric Bass. For grades 7 and up. Instructor: Eric Hansen. Starting with proper
skills of both right and left hand, students will
increase their techniques on the electric bass
as they learn and play fun riffs and bass lines
from famous/important artists from various
styles such as jazz, rock, funk and blues.
3 pm – The 4 Mallet Percussion. For grades 7 and up.
Instructor: Jed Blodgett. It's
more than just a parlor trick!
We'll get you up and swinging with just a few simple
tricks. You don't even have to
be a serious percussionist!
Just come and learn what
makes 4-mallet marimba
and vibraphone so fun! (Mallets provided).

4 pm Piccolo for Flute Players. For grades 8 and up. Instructor: Erin Murphy. This class is for flutists interested in
learning more about the flute's smaller relative,
the piccolo. No previous experience playing
the piccolo is required. If you already own a
piccolo, that is great, if not, there will be piccolos available to try. More experienced piccolo
players are welcome to attend, so are those
with no piccolo experience. We will cover important concepts pertaining to the piccolo,
such as embouchure, technique, intonation,
tuning, maintenance, and more. Flutists need
at least 2 yrs of experience on the flute before
taking this class.
4 pm – Steel Band. For grades 7 and up. Instructor: Jed Blodgett. See General.

grades 7 and up. Instructor: Rebecca Lomnicky. This class will cover all the basics in violin/viola technique. We will
focus on intonation, bowing, sight
reading, rhythm reading, and even
ensemble leadership. We will also
talk about basic elements of music
theory, such as key signatures, forms
of scales, and musical notation.
9 am – Violin/Viola Technique, level 2.
For grades 9 and up. Instructor: Janice Vincent. Gain new skills and develop finesse as we explore elements

Violin & Viola
9 am – Cello Technique, level 2. For students
grade 9 and up or who have played the cello 3
or more years in orchestra (or by teacher permission). Expand your cello playing horizons
by learning new ways to approach vibrato,
bowings and thumb positions. You will learn
traditional Classical approaches as well as exciting new music and
techniques.
9 am – String Bass
Technique. For grades
7 and up. Instructor:
Eric Hansen. This class
will include a thorough
overview of the basic
techniques of playing
the double bass, including stance, right and left
hand issues, bass care
and cartage, vibrato,
sound production, gear,
and repertoire.
10 am – Chamber Orchestra. For students
grade 9 and up (or by
instructor permission).
Instructor: Laina
Reynolds. For intermediate level and up violin, viola, cello and bass
players. In the context of learning new repertoire, the orchestra will learn, explore and improve good ensemble habits, listening and
reacting skills, increased awareness as a
player, how to be more engaged in an ensemble setting, and have an exciting performing
experience.
10 am – Intermediate String/Folk Ensemble.
For grades 7-8. Instructor: Rebecca Lomnicky.
This class is for students who play the violin,
viola, cello or bass and are interested in what it
means to play Celtic music in an ensemble
setting. Students will learn traditional tunes
and the different roles each instrument can
play in the ensemble---from melody to rhythmic chordal accompaniment. Tunes will be
taught both by ear and with sheet music.
11 am – Cello Technique, level 1. For grades 6
and up, or students who have had at least 1
year of orchestra or private lessons. Learn
new skills, fun cello techniques, and different
styles of music to make your cello playing
easy and exciting! We will be playing in
rounds and 2 & 3 parts focusing on sound
quality to get that exceptional performance
every time!
1 pm – Symphony Orchestra – Students &
Staff. For grades 8 and up. Instructor: Eric
Hansen. For advanced level players. Come
enjoy the consummate musical experience,
where there is an instrumental family reunion
every rehearsal. Winds are chosen by audition
on Monday, and are invited on to join the symphony on Tuesday.
2 pm – Scottish Fiddle Tunes & Technique.
For grades 8 and up. Instructor: Rebecca
Lomnicky. For intermediate/advanced fiddle

Hansen. A week of fun and enlightening adventure as we explore the symphonic output
of the great masters, from Bach to Beethoven,
Schubert to Mahler, and on to the modern luminaries such as Prokofiev, Stravinsky, then
Adams and other living composers.
3 pm – Cello Improv. For grades 10 and up.
Instructor: Laina Reynolds. It is so cool to compose music while you play! Did you ever want
to jam with your friends but didn't know how?
Here is a chance to learn how. It just takes a
few tricks and a little practice and.....you can
play with anyone!
3 pm – The Session. For grades 9 and up. Instructors: David Brewer and Rebecca Lomnicky. See Folk.

multiple genres of music arranged just for cellos! There will be parts for everyone, regardless of experience. We'll be playing some
music with fun techniques and styles for 4-8
cellos. Music includes the 'Cello Song' and
'Secrets' from the Piano Guys. Cellists won't
want to miss this!

10 am – A Cappella. For grades 8 and up. Instructor: Kirk Young. "A cappella" is singing
without any kind of instrumental accompaniment. In this fast-paced choral class, we'll incorporate composition and transcription skills
as we learn classic and contemporary a cappella songs and learn how to create our own a
arrangements based on today's hits.
11 am – Intro to Comedy Improv. For grades 6
and up. Instructor: Katrina Phillip. Learn how to
have fun and let go, without knowing exactly
what you are doing!!! (Hey, this actually kind
of sounds like life!) In Intro To Comedy Improv
the actor learns exactly what to do, and how
best to perform without given any lines
or blocking to memorize and/or rehearse.

creating scenes and characters on the spot.
11 am – Theatre Vocal Technique. For grades

Americana, operatic or rock musical- musical
theatre vocals can be any one of these genres, and are often used concurrently within the
scope of one show. Traversing these styles
with ease is a hard task for any singer, especially with the added exertion of vocal projection and dancing. Come learn the dos and
don’ts with a Broadway veteran.
1 pm – African Music & Dance. For grades 6

Hop, Vernacular / Theater Dance. Every day
we concentrate on an area of dance. Which
do you like the best? How do they relate to

kind of dancer you are!
2 pm – Devised Theatre. For grades 9 and up.
Instructor: Summer Olsson. Make brand new
theatre, never seen before! Play with an ensemble, learn how to capture your ideas and
transform them into a scene. This class will be
physical, on- your-feet creation. We will use
games, images, improv and movement work
to make a short performance.
2 pm – Musical Theatre 1. For
grades 6-8. Instructor: Katrina
Phillip. Come learn the basics
of what it takes to be a Broadway star! No matter your experience, you will be able to sing,
dance, AND act at the same
time after taking this class!
Learn the tools and tips essential for every musical theatre
actor, and show your new skills
in a production number (big song and dance!)
at the end of the week.
2 pm – Musical Theatre 2. For grades 9 and
up. Instructor: Shaun Parry. Broadway in
Wyoming? Why not?! Let's put on a show! Experience the excitement of a musical theater
production directed and choreographed by a
Broadway veteran. Sing, dance, and act selections from a popular Broadway musical.

3 pm – Advanced Songwriting. For grades 8

grades 6 and up with grades 3 and

1 pm – Beginning Songwriting. For
grades 6 and up. Instructor: Andy
Hachbarth. Class will cover the basics of songwriting, including song
structure, the difference between
poetry and lyrics, rhyming, descriptive tools, chord progressions,
ways to beat writers block, tips,
tricks and more. No songwriting
experience necessary, no musical
knowledge necessary. If students
play an instrument they are welcome to bring
it.
1 pm – Beginning Acting. For grades 6 and
up. Instructor: Shaun Perry. Thinking about
being on TV or in plays? Come learn the
most important techniques and tools for every
actor, tricks for overcoming nervousness, and
how to prepare for an audition or a play! Practice your skills with a unique piece chosen for
you, try out dialogue from real movies and
commercials, and give it all in an in-class performance on the last day.
4 pm – Theater Tech & Sound. For grades 8
and up. Instructor: William Crompton. This
class will give students a basic understanding
of being a live sound technician. In addition to
basic equipment set-up, operation, and troubleshooting, students will learn how to write
and read staging diagrams in preparation for
live performances.
4 pm – Barbershop Choir. For grades 8 and
up. Instructor: Ryan North. Memorable
melodies and close harmonies define the Barbershop style. Come join us as we explore
how to sing this fun music! We will perform at
the end of the week.
4 pm – Theatre Dance. For grades 6 and up.
Instructor: Katrina Phillip. Setting the scene,
using body language, and enhancing character to create a dance. This class combines
jazz technique with other varieties of movement, however the main emphasis is to tell a
story. This class begins with a basic jazz warm
up and will have progressions and center floor
work and combinations that combine acting
with jazz dance to make a scene come to life
visually, musically, and kinetically. This class
performs at the end of the week.

8 am – Piano Masterclass. For
grades 6-12. Instructor: Jane Galloway. Learn how to improve your
performance by polishing your
piece, honoring the composer, perfecting your practice, having an audience,
facing your fears, and adding a fun factor.
Be ready to play 1-2 pieces on a classy
piano for our class throughout the week
starting the 2nd day. Bring your music AND
your listening ears.
3 pm – Acting Tools & Tips. For grades 8 and
up. Instructor: Katrina Phillip. Tools and Tips to
get you to be more BELIEVABLE on stage, on
camera, etc.
11 am – Intro to the Organ. For grades 8
and up. Instructor: Ryan North. Have you ever
wondered what all those buttons and knobs
on the organ do? Or how to play with your
feet? Come and learn about the basics of creating music at the organ. This class will be
helpful to the beginner as well as to those who
have been playing for years but have little formal training. Students will take a short walk to
a church for this class.
3 pm – Ballroom Dance. For grades 6 and up.
Instructor: Shaun Parry. Try the Cha-Cha,
Mambo, Rumba, Salsa, Samba, Swing… this
will be a great social dance class where you
can relax and have some fun.
11 am – Piano – Do it with Duets 2. For
grades 7-12. Instructor: Jane Galloway. For
students who have studied piano 5+ years.
Now that you have worked hard at your piano
study, let's have some fun playing together. It

we'll explore new and exciting ways to take
your songwriting to the next level!

9 am – Tour of Scotland. For grades 6 and up.
Instructor: David Brewer. Scotland is an amazing place, far across the ocean... it's one of the
Celtic nations, and every mile of land is
steeped in legends and history, with castles &
mysterious lakes, and right friendly people.
After many trips through the country to study
the music & culture, and having lived there,
David will take you on a guided "virtual tour" of

to play this delightful instrument by ear, and
see how simple music can be. The hammered dulcimer is an ancestor of the piano,
being struck by hammers, one held in each
hand. It is primarily a melody instrument (it’s
origins dating back to ancient Persia), with harmony provided by the enchanting ringing
strings! Students will learn all the basic techniques, and several tunes from the Irish tradition. Dulcimers, Music and hand-outs will be

10 am – Intermediate String/Folk Ensemble.
For grades 7-8. Instructor: Rebecca Lomnicky.
This class is for students who play the violin,
viola, cello or bass and are interested in what it
means to play Celtic music in an ensemble
setting. Students will learn traditional tunes
and the different roles each instrument can
play in the ensemble---from melody to rhythmic chordal accompaniment. Tunes will be
taught both by ear and with sheet music.
11 am – Intermediate Ukulele. For grades 6
and up. Instructor: Steve Butler. In this class
students will learn the songs that everyone
wants to learn on the ukulele including "Somewhere over the Rainbow," "Five Foot Two,"
"Hey Soul Sister," "Count on Me," "Hey there
Delilah," and others. Learn basic and advanced chords. Learn different strumming patterns. Learn how to play melodies on the
ukulele. For beginning and intermediate students.
11 am – Irish
Flute. For grades
8 and up. Instructor: Erin

more advanced
flute or whistle
players, this
class will cover
the ornamentation and style of
the traditional Irish flute. We will discover various resources to aid the student in his/her
transition from modern orchestral flute to the
Irish flute. You do not need an "Irish flute" to
participate, a modern orchestral flute will work
just fine. Students will have the opportunity to
try a wooden Irish flute.

this year, all the way from Africa! At the end of
the week, students will showcase song,
rhythm and dance of the Kuku, Yado, and
Wolosodon. Students will play authentic
African drums, sing in African languages, and
learn about geography, natural resources, social customs, folktales, languages, and artifacts of several African countries.
11 am – Celtic Ceillidh Dance. For grades 6
and up with grades 3 and up invited. Instructor: David Brewer. In the Celtic countries of
Scotland & Ireland, "Ceillidh" (pronounced
Kay-Lee) is what they call a "party," so this is a

This class is for anyone who plays Celtic
music on any instrument, or anyone interested
in learning about the style, who wants to really
get in-depth with understanding the music.
Through live demonstration on instruments,
and analysis on the board with narration,
David will break down an array of Celtic tune
examples into very obvious pieces and then
expand on them to make your understanding
of the music as solid as a pro.
2 pm – Scottish Fiddle Tunes and Technique.
For grades 8 and up. Instructor: Rebecca
Lomnicky. For intermediate/advanced fiddle
players. From the driving West coast highland
reels, to the elegant North-East strathspeys,
each region of Scotland is known for having its
own style and sound. Students will learn a variety of traditional tunes, as well as the techniques in ornamentation and bowing that
make them so particularly Scottish. This class
is taught by ear.
2 pm – Beginning Celtic Harp, section 1. For
grades 6 and up. Instructor: Philip Boulding.
Students may take section 1 or 2 but not both.
Learn to play the harp by ear, like the Bards of
ancient Ireland! You will learn all the basics,
starting with fingering exercises for both hands
with scales and arpeggios, on lap harps provided by the teacher. At the end you will know
how to play 1-2 complete arrangements. No
musical background is needed, but is helpful.

2 pm – Hardcore Hand Drumming. For grades

3 pm – The Session. For grades 9 and up. Instructors: David Brewer and Rebecca Lomnicky. For intermediate and advanced
students/adults who play the flute, whistle, fiddle, pipes, bouzouki, mandolin, tenor banjo,
guitar, bodhran. A session player's dreamgroup session playing every day! The class
will play tunes by ear, in the traditional "Irish
session" format.
4 pm – Fiddle Band. For
grades 8 and up. Instructor:

language of Scotland reflects the landscape of
the country: both rugged (like German) &
beautiful sounding (like French), with an obvious air of mystery & history to it, dating back to
the times when the ancient Celtic tribes where
building stone circles similar to Stone Henge.
This class will focus on fun conversational
Gaelic , that will include learning to speak with
a Scottish accent pronunciation, conversational phrases, and include a section on Gaelic
songs.

the human face. Just by knowing a few tricks,
anyone can draw a pretty realistic face. Students will learn the basic rules of proportion for
creating the head and the facial features. We

art of painting with melted crayons. This
method of painting is known as encaustic--painting with colored waxes.
We will create bright and colorful paintings by dripping, painting and smearing
the melted crayons onto wooden
boards. All materials will be provided.

African masks as our inspiration, we
will design and construct 3- foot-high
masks from re-purposed, recycled, and

old jewelry, leather, lace, or anything vintage!
We will make curious gadgets, simple jewelry
(or other wearable items), fantastical contraptions, and some “other-worldly” creatures too!

Make your own mask out of craft materials
and found objects. Learn the whole- body
skills of storytelling with mask. Create any

genius and mystery of the Greek philosopher/mathematician Pythagoras, who came
up with the simple monochord to demonstrate
profound principles of music, which have become the basis of all western music and theory to the present day! Materials fee - $25.
1 pm – Mentalism. For grades 8 and up. Instructor: Richard Hatch. This focuses on the
fundamentals of mentalism, the art of simulating paranormal abilities. Mind reading, precognition, elementary metal bending, and
even "cold reading" – the ability to tell total
strangers intimate details that you should not
know – will be touched on in this class. Students will be required to sign a secrecy oath at
the beginning of the first class.

inside you free as we explore a fun and free
music notation software that will allow you to
put your own music on paper or transform an

successful artisan bread making, the importance of proper measuring, mixing, handling
and proofing to ensure delicious results, and
how to sculpt impressive dough shapes. Con-

Have you ever played a piece that you knew

from the Caribbean! Calypso and Soca and a

4 pm – Ultimate Frisbee. For grades 6 and up.
Instructor: Seretta Hart. The 'ultimate' goal of
this class is to bring enjoyment to the student
while burning lots of energy, mastering coordination, and getting a great workout! Anyone
can learn Frisbee, we'll cover basics, play one
of the world's most invigorating team sports,
and do it all while enjoying the summertime
fresh air.

exhausting day at camp, your friends are texting you, and you know you need to work on

the end of your camp day and learn to relax
and revive yourself.

can learn the basic techniques of harp playing.
The harp is tuned to a C major scale, which
they will recognize. They can learn to play

a partner and learn how to play simple duets
together. You will receive music before the
camp to learn on your own. Then during camp

will polish your duo in preparation for performance at the end of the week.

collage! We'll use pictures, glue, bling, and assorted odds and ends to create posters and

grades 3-5. Instructor: Jennifer
Ingram. This fun class will
teach how to decorate small
cookies and cupcakes with
simple designs and techniques
using 2-3 tips. Kids will then get
to eat their creations! Every child will need to
bring an apron or oversized t-shirt every day to
protect their clothing. Materials Fee:$15.
1 pm Hip Hop/Break Dance. For grades 3-5.
Instructor: Caddie Welling. For boys and girls
wanting to learn rhythm, movement, and beat
while having fun learning hip-hop, pop & lock,
and basic break dancing tricks.
1 pm Puppet Making & Performance. For
grades 3-5. Instructor: Summer Olsson. Make
your own rod puppet and then learn the secrets of puppetry performance. You can bring
to life a pirate, a princess, a turtle—or anything! After a week of creating and fun, show
off your skills with a puppet play for family and
friends. Materials fee - $3.
2 pm Duck Tape Class, section 1. For grades
3-5. Instructor: Jody Comte. Students can only
take either section 1 or section 2, not both.

2 pm The Art of Tie-Dye. For grades 3-5. Instructor: Jessica Sibbert. Come explore the
groovy world of tie dying. Learn to use different
techniques to make fun designs and patterns
on our MAT Camp t-shirts, as well as on some
projects you get to take home! Materials fee $5.
2 pm – Beginning Violin. For grades 3-5. Instructor: Janice Vincent. Known by many as
the musical instrument most like the human
voice, the violin has inspired and excited millions of people in all the countries of the world
for more than 400 years; come and begin your
own journey playing the violin. No previous
experience is required. Violins provided and
available for purchase at the end of the week.

2 pm – Beginning Whistle. For grades 3-5. Instructor: Erin Murphy. Learn one of Ireland's
most ancient instruments, the penny-whistle!
Its small and portable, easy to learn, and is a
whole lot of fun to play! Students will learn
good techniques for
breath control,
proper finger positioning, and some
traditional tunes as
well! Students get a
whistle to take home
and keep. Materials

2 pm – Beginning
Acoustic Guitar. For
grades 3-5. Instructor: Andy Hackbarth.
For beginners - This
class will get you up
and running on the
basics of acoustic
guitar. Let us help
you learn to play the
songs YOU
want...the RIGHT
way! We'll cover
proper guitar technique, tuning the guitar, how to read chord charts and tablature,
and more. No previous experience necessary.
Some instruments will be provided for those
who don't have them.
2 pm – Beginning Cello. For grades 3 and up.
Instructor: Laina Reynolds. Want to try out the
cello? We provide the instruments, you provide the enthusiasm! Come learn about the
basics of playing the most beautiful instrument
in the orchestra. We provide the cello to try all
week long, with the option to buy on Friday.
The cello is so awesome! We'll be playing
rhythm with drums and fun games. See you
there! Materials fee - $5 for use of cello for the
week.
3 pm – The Artistic Yo-yo. For grades 3-5. Instructor: Elizabeth Young Rennick. Students
will learn the art of playing the yo yo, with all
the most popular tricks. Materials fee - $5.
3 pm – Candy Making. For grades 3-5. Instructor: Candi Decoite. What's your favorite
candy? All candies are delicious and in this
class you will learn to make Buckeyes, Peanut
Brittle, Coconut Mound Bars, Rocky Roads
and more. This class will teach you how to
easily make your own formed and dipped
candy at home. Yes, you do get to eat what
we make and take some home to share with
your family. Prepare to get sticky! Allergy Alert:
Peanuts will be used in this class. Materials
fee - $10.
3 pm – Famous Artists. For grades 3-5. Instructor: Jody Comte. Art can be created from
all sorts of things. In this class you will become a famous artist learning about fun ways
to make art and then creating it. This class is
super fun and the creations we make are one
of a kind! Materials fee – $6.
3 pm – Beginning Piano. For grades 3-5. Instructor: Sonia Roberts. This class will introduce students to the keyboard and basic
fingering. Students will also learn the beginning fundamentals of music theory and
rhythm. Students will have the opportunity to
play the piano and learn one or two simple
melodies. While they will not come out of class
quite ready to be concert pianists, they will
leave having experienced what piano lessons
would be like, and have a wonderful time in
the process!
3 pm Junior Singers. For grades 3-5. Instructor: Ryan North. A fun and engaging musicmaking experience for young people who like
to sing. Students will sing a variety of music
and receive basic instruction in voice and musicianship.
4 pm - African Music & Dance, section 2. For
grades 3-5. Instructor: Oumar Sanneh. Students should take either section 1 or 2, but not
both. A new class and very special teacher
this year, all the way from Africa! At the end of
the week, students will showcase song,
rhythm and dance of the Kuku, Yado, and
Wolosodon. Students will play authentic
African drums, sing in African languages, and
learn about geography, natural resources, social customs, folktales, languages, and artifacts of several African countries.
4 pm – Airplanes. For grades 3-5. Instructor:
Steve Butler. In this class students will learn
not only some classic paper airplane shapes
but also some very innovative and unusual airplane shapes that will actually fly. Students will
learn the basic principles that make flight possible. This class will take place inside and will
move outdoors to allow students try out their
paper airplanes. Materials fee - $3.
4 pm – Art and Science Fun Integrations. For
grades 3-5. Instructor: JoAnn Memmott. Students will become Paleontologists and Archeologists as we explore dinosaurs and cultures
through art. Watercolor, clay, drawing, printmaking and more; students will "Show What
They Know" about science through fun art
projects. No experience is necessary but
show up with an "inquiring mind." Materials fee
- $5.

your hand at box pleating, twist folds, modular
creations, and more in this class. Prerequisite:
11 am – Drama Workshop. For grades 1-2. Instructor: Kayne Pyatt. Students will learn the
basics of movement and voice projection in
theater productions. We will create simple
costumes and masks and present a 3 - 5
minute play of a children's book at the end of
the week. Materials fee - $5.

9 am – Beginning Piano. For grades 1-2. Instructor: Jayne Galloway. Step on the path to
playing the piano with confidence and fun. Will
introduce note-reading, rhythm, and basic keyboard skills. Materials provided. We will have
time each class for you to ask questions too.
9 am – Jazz Dance. For grades 1-2. Instructor: Caddie Welling. This class is designed to
develop coordination, balance, strength,
rhythm, correct posture, and creativity. It consists of organized jazz floor movements and
patterns, specific dance steps, and creative
expression. Minimal ballet exercises are given
with great care, along with others that are less
demanding, yet highly beneficial in preparing
for future jazz classes. Class Dress Code:
leotard, tights, & jazz shoes preferred (may
wear bear feet & exercise clothes if you do not
have these items).
9 am – Fun with Food! For grades 1-2. Instructor: Rebecca Erickson. Come have fun in
the class where it's OK to play with your food!
Crazy fun and yummy snacks are on the
menu here. This class is not for students who

paper and clay as they create original works of

9 am – Baby Mine! Music class for
parent/caregiver and babies, birth to 18
months of age. Instructor: Natalie Steenson.
This class will explore the beauty and wonder
of lullabies and nursery rhymes with developmentally appropriate activities to help your
baby develop a sense of beat and listening
skills through singing, rocking and steady beat
activities.
9 am – Tumbling & Movement Fun. For children ages 3 – 5. Instructor: Summer Olsson.
Roll, hop and wiggle. Walk like a bear. Grow
into a flower. Transform into a butterfly. With
games and beginning tumbling, kids build individual and collaborative skills in coordination
and creativity.
9 am – Comte’s Corner. For children ages 4 –
5. Instructor: Jody Comte. Reading can take
you on an adventure. Join this class to see
where it takes you every day. We will be reading a book and then doing activities that go
along with it! Materials fee - $4.
10 am – Look What I Can Do! For
children age 18 months – 3 years and
caregiver. Instructor: Natalie Steenson. This class will explore your
child's emergent self through singing,
vocal play, steady beat activities, creative movement and rhythmic instrument playing.
