The Maltese Hat with Liz Avery Sunday, September 22 12:00-3:00 pm I fell in love with EZ’s designing when I first knit this hat: it has all the garter-y goodness and shaping that epitomize her genius. We’ll knit the earflaps flat in short rows and join to knit the hat in the round, all in a super bulky yarn that will fly off your needles. I modified mine to make a less pointy top, but slower decreasing and a jaunty tassle make it fun for the young at heart. The shape reminded Elizabeth of a gnome hat, and the name for it was given after she heard ‘gnome’ mispronounced in a way that pleased her. Based on the shaping principle of miters, the cleverly constructed Ganomy hat will keep your ears warm and leave a smile on your face. The 2 lower and upper half of the hat are different colors beautifully blended by a Bohusinspired motif. We'll discuss proper measurements, using pattern schematics, gauge, picking the right size for your sweater, adding or changing waist and bust shaping, changing torso and arm lengths, combining sizes, and any other fit questions you may have. We order supplies and make a commitment to the teacher based upon your registration. Please be sure you can attend the first session before you sign up for a class. The first class session provides the foundation of skills for the entire class. Classes start promptly, so be sure to have all materials ready to go. If you cancel a week or more before the beginning date of the class, your class fee will be refunded. If you cancel between forty-eight hours and a week's notice, your class fee will be transferable to another class within the following calendar year. The cost of the class is neither refundable nor transferable forty-eight hours before the class begins. A full refund will be made if we cancel a class. 14
