Repeat Round 1 for K2, p2 rib.

With double pointed needles and A, cast
on 48 sts. Divide sts evenly around double
pointed needles. Join to work in rounds,
taking care not to twist sts. Place marker for
beginning of round.
Round 1: [K2, p2] 4 times, [k1, p1] 8 times,
[k2, p2] 4 times.
Repeat Round 1 until piece measures 15 cm
[6”] from beginning.

Shape Crown
Decrease Round 1: [K2, p2tog] around – 36 sts.
Next Round: [K2, p1] around.
Decrease Round 2: [K2tog, p1] around – 24 sts.
Next Round: [K1, p1] around.
Decrease Round 3: [K2tog] around – 12 sts.
Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread tail
through remaining sts and pull to gather. Knot
to secure.

With pompom maker and B, make a pompom.
Sew pompom on top of Hat.
Weave in ends.
Brim
With right side facing and holding 2 strands
of A held together, join yarn at right edge of
K1, p1 center section, pick up and knit 16 sts
along cast-on edge, end at left edge of center
section for Brim – 16 sts.
Decrease Row: Knit to last 2 sts, k2tog – 15 sts.
Repeat Decrease Row every row 5 more times
– 10 sts.
Cast off.
