4th Sunday of Lent
PARISH STAFF
From Fr. Burns
Dear Parishioners
This week I would like to call your attention to a group of people in the
Parish and School offices who deserve our appreciation, affirmation, gratitude and applause. I am talking about the Administrative Staffs in the
Parish and School offices. Due to special circumstances in the past decade, they have been called upon to serve the parish and the school in a
most generous and selfless manner.
There are many tasks for which these two staffs are responsible in ordinary times and even more so during exceptional times, such as: Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Gustav; a change of Pastors; the illness and
death of our Pastor; the retirement of the School Principal, John Bennett;
a time of waiting for the next pastor; the constant flux in the growth of our
facilities; the yearly change in Associate Pastors; the constant flux of new
parishioners; and the growth of our school and the day care enrollment.
They have done this nobly, and for this I am grateful and urge each of
you to express your gratefulness to them when you have the occasion. In
particular, they were all most kind and generous in assisting Fr. Than Vu
during his most difficult moments and even his impending death. Their
assistance in preparing for his funeral was remarkable, even though at
least one parish staff member was in his initial stage of recovery from his
illness. Their ability to coordinate the funeral liturgy and the following receptions had many in awe. This display of remarkable selflessness was
again displayed with the same devotion for the ordination of Fr. Christopher Iwancio, his first mass and the receptions that followed. In addition,
the staff told me that they could not have done any of this without the involvement of a group of dedicated parishioners. And now, once again
they are required to show the same attitude of service as they adjust to
even more changes that are taking place in the parish offices and the
change in the School Principal, Mrs. Erin Candilora.
In regards to the parish offices, due to the fact that the old rectory and the
Mimosa House (not the KC House) will be demolished sometime in June,
the parish office building will be reconfigured to make room for the children that will be moved from the old rectory to the administration building
until the new child care center is complete. This could take eighteen
months or more. Some eight offices have now been moved to a temporary building nearby.
Yes, the past decade has been one of much transition and this will be the
reality for several more years. So please be patient and understanding.
Everything will settle eventually. Thank you for your support and affirmation.
PLEASE NOTE; due to the reconfiguring of the Office Building, it may be
necessary at times for some groups to meet elsewhere. Please take the
example of the Parish staff and adjust to this when it is necessary. We
will avoid this as much as possible.
Yours in Christ,

O St. Joseph, whose protection is

before the Throne of God, I place
in you all my interests and desires. O St. Joseph, do assist me
by your powerful intercession
and obtain for me from your Divine Son all spiritual blessings
through Jesus Christ, Our Lord;
so that having engaged here below your Heavenly power I may
offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most
loving of Fathers. O St. Joseph, I never weary
contemplating you and Jesus asleep in your
arms. I dare not approach while He reposes
near your heart. Press him in my name and kiss
His fine Head for me, and ask Him to return the
Kiss when I draw my dying breath. St. Joseph,
Patron of departing souls, pray for us. Amen.
