Where Brighter Futures Grow
Our Vision
“Meeting the needs of people in crisis
and giving hope to those most vulnerable
in our society”
Who are we?
Since 2006, Compassion in Action a registered charity has met the
needs of people in crisis with the provision of furniture, food and
clothes, accommodation, skills training, education, advocacy.
We aim to...
What’s at the farm?

Provide a nurturing warm environment, where people can
feel safe, secure and supported
Outdoors
The philosophy of our Charity is founded upon the belief that every
person can contribute to their own wellbeing and become a valued
member of the community. We believe everyone has something to
offer and everyone deserves an opportunity.

Increase physical and mental wellbeing, increase feelings
of self-worth and self esteem

We have now supported over 8,000 families and in July 2014 we
received the prestigious accolade of the Queen’s Award, the
community equivalent of an MBE.
To encourage an awareness of good nutrition and the
importance of looking after one’s health holistically


Encourage friendships to blossom both new and old
The Rainbow Eco Farm offers excellent opportunities for individuals
to take part in outdoor activities like gardening, growing food,
learning about conservation and recycling. In addition there will be
opportunities to take part in indoor activities such as arts and crafts
inspired by the countryside and utilising natural products sourced
from the farm.


Create bespoke programmes of activities
Our latest project is the Rainbow Eco Farm, the farm has been built
and developed on a site kindly provided by Mr Martin Ainscough ,
and offers a first class environment enabling Compassion in Action
to offer high quality therapeutic and
recreational activities.
The Rainbow Eco Farm
Recent evidence supports the value of ‘ecotherapy’ and the
therapeutic role it can play in improving an individual’s physical and
mental well being by growing food, gardening and being a part of,
and helping to take care of our environment.
Our Rainbow Eco Farm is located off Pepper Lane, Standish,
adjacent to Thompson House Equestrian Centre and is set in 3.5
acres of outstanding natural beauty with great views overlooking
Rivington Pike.
Provide the environment to learn creative skills including
arts and crafts, gardening and take away the ‘fruits’ of
each individual’s efforts!
Offer volunteering possibilities including the potential to
learn new skills, and build on existing ones
Respite Lodge

overnight break away from home, providing the chance to
relax in our spacious, cosy log cabin surrounded by stunning
scenery and outstanding views. The cabin has an open plan
design with the sitting room, kitchen, and dining area. The
