About the conference
The 12th International Conference on General Linguistics (CILG2016) will be held at the
University of Alcalá from 24 – 26 May, 2016. This is the next in the series of
conferences which began in Valencia (1994) and subsequently continued in the cities
of Granada (1996), Salamanca (1998), Cádiz (2000), León (2002), Santiago de
Compostela (2004), Barcelona (2006), Madrid (2008), Valladolid (2010), Zaragoza
(2012) and Pamplona (2014).
In the centenary year of the publication of the Cours de linguistique générale by the
Swiss linguist Ferdinand de Saussure, the CILG2016 seeks to be the forum in which
scholars specialising in language and languages may present their research to the
scientific community. By means of different types of session, linguists will have the
opportunity to show those linguistic studies being carried out from their theoretical
perspective; to attend plenary lectures by prestigious researchers; to participate in
round tables on current issues: to exchange experiences with other participants; and,
of course, to visit the city of Alcalá de Henares, a UNESCO World Heritage city since
1998.
