What is it? Cub Scouts build their own racer or come and race one of ours or a friend's. Each scout will race and
the best teams in each division will receive an award. Team divisions are:
 Tiger Team (all 1st Graders)
 Wolf Team (all 2nd graders
 Bear Team (all 3rd graders)
 Webelos (all 4th and 5th graders)
 Pack Team (all ages)
Timed races include:




SPRINT- Drivers and pushers will run to cars at other end of track and then push the car back to the original
starting line.
ROAD COURSE- A road course will be set up that the team will have to maneuver their car through with no
driver exchange!
4 DRIVER EXCHANGE –Long distance course with driver exchange at 4 separate points on the course.
DRAG RACE- Entire team begins at car and sprints to finish line.
Awards will also be given in the following categories:


Best Design – For groups that built their own car, Cub Scouts will explain their car design to a team of judges
with criteria for safety, innovation, and the boys input/involvement in building the car.

Rules:






Teams consist of one driver and no more than 3 scouts to push a car.
A scout can only race as a member of one team division. Each team is encouraged to make their own car but
may race a car built by someone else.
Bicycle helmets (with straps) must be worn by all scouts. Scouts are encouraged to wear long pants and longsleeved sweat shirts.
Cars must be equipped with seat belts and they must be worn by the drivers.
Judges Decisions are Final.
Cars need to have a push bar that enables 3 boys to push car. Brace rear axle and adjust steering blocks to
permit car to turn. All cars must have a brake and seatbelts. Car Plans attached.
Cost/Registration: $10 per scout on or before April 17th, $15 per scout after April 17th
Supervision: Supervision is the responsibility of the Den and Pack leaders and the parent of the Cub Scout. Parents are
welcome to come and watch their son's race.
