Day Camp - Charlotte Pack 164

Cub Scout NASCAR Day Camp 2015
Hello!
I am the Day Camp Coordinator for Pack 164 this year and I know we will have a fabulous week! I went
to one of the information sessions last night and they have so many great activities for the boysincluding adult-sized tricycles for races and a campfire on Thursday night!
So, I apologize for the long email, but I need to share information with you!
All forms and payments are due by April 8th to me, so that I can turn them in by April 9th. No forms
will be accepted at the Boy Scout office.
Your biggest reference point for all the forms and information is going to be this website:
www.mccscouting.org/Camps/EtowahDistrictDayCamp.aspx
Day Camp is June 15-19, 2015 from 9 am to 4 pm at Belk Scout Camp.
Scouts: This includes all scouts rising 1st grade thru rising 5th grade. Scouts are assigned to different dens
utilizing a random process. This means that packs and siblings will be separated. Accommodations are
made for scouts with special needs (physical or mental) that a physician has documented. This way the
boys will be able to meet new faces and make new friends. They will see their pack members in the
morning and at lunch time. The first time my son went to day camp, I thought this would be a problem,
but it really wasn’t. They are so busy, doing so many things, that they don’t have time to miss anyone!
Cost is $125, made payable to Pack 164.
Parent Volunteer Staff: We must have 1 full-time volunteer for every 4 scouts. A full-time volunteer
means that days are covered Monday through Friday. So, a parent volunteer who can be there for all 5
days is 1 volunteer, one parent who can be there Monday-Wednesday plus another parent who can be
there Thursday-Friday equals one full-time volunteer. We cannot have 4 volunteers on Monday and
none on Tuesday. Please think carefully about volunteering! This is an amazing experience for the boys
and we want to make sure that everyone who wants to go is able to. Once you have committed to
volunteering, you must either work your agreed on days, or find another parent to cover for you. We
have to have enough parents at camp to make it safe for the scouts. If you volunteer all 5 days, at the
end of the week, you will receive a $20 rebate. If you are volunteering 4-5 days, your camp t-shirt is free.
If you volunteer 1-3 days, you will need to purchase a t-shirt for $8.
Parent volunteers are required to take the following on-line trainings: Youth Protection and Weather
Hazards. Please print out a copy of the certifications and staple to your application.
Pixies: If you are a parent volunteer, your younger children may attend camp too! Pixies must be pottytrained. You must be volunteering on the days when they attend. Cost: $20/week; this includes the cost
of t-shirt and supplies.
Please go to the website above and see the Camp Pamphlet and Pre-Camp Information Letter. Please
print off and fill out all needed forms.
I will be accepting paperwork during the Spring Cane Creek Camping Trip on Saturday 21st and the
Webelos Crossover on March 27 from 7-8 pm. Please email or call me if you are not able to make either
of these dates and we can arrange a time to meet up. My email is [email protected] and phone
number is 704-780-0628. I work during the day, so I will try and answer emails as I see them, but most
emails and calls will be answered once I get off. Thank you for being understanding about this!
