To allow you a bit more time to complete
the parent survey, we have extended the

already done so, please take a few
minutes to complete it as soon as
possible. You may access the survey in

the seven juniors will showcase two
pieces of work. The exhibit will be
displayed on Level 1 at the Ayala Center
between Fred Perry and Vero Moda.
Please plan to stop by to show your
support to these talented students.
Grade 10 Micro Business Fair
Our Grade 10 Micro Business Fair is
scheduled next week, April 13 to 17, in
the canteen annex. The fair requires
students to create and implement a
financial and business plan in support of
their project. This is always a popular
event and students and staff are able to
sample different food items prepared by
the students. The money earned from
this event supports community service
activities for the Grade 10 CAS (Creativity
Action Service) program.
Grade 11 and 12 Art Exhibition –
Ayala Center
Spring Musical – Peter Pan
The long awaited musical is here! Our
director, Mr. Patrick Donohue, and the
Performance Committee are putting the
final touches on the presentation to run
Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18,
2015 at 6:30 pm in the Dragon’s Dome.
Tickets cost Php250 each. See the cashier
to purchase yours.
As a culminating activity to showcase their
work, our Grade 11 and 12 visual arts
students will be holding an exhibition at
the Ayala Center from Monday, April 13,
at 6:30 pm to May 15. This year’s exhibit
is entitled “ASPIRE,” a title selected by
students to describe their growth and
movement from this stage in their school
career to the next challenges they will
face. The title of the exhibit also signifies a
hopeful desire to keep moving towards
achieving their goals and aspirations.
The six seniors will each showcase three

Coffee Morning – Preparing Children
for the June School Break
It’s not too early to start thinking about
the school break and what your children
will do while they are out of school June 3
to August 4. Please join us in the studio
on Wednesday, April 15, at 7:30 am to
share ideas.

Do You Have Band Instruments
Gathering Dust
We could sure use your old band
instruments. Don’t let them collect dust.
Put them to good use by donating them
to the school. Please bring the instrument
to school and leave it with Ms. Loida or
Ms. Lory in the principals’ office. Thank
you!
Promote Cyber Civility
When your child communicates online,
make sure he keeps these questions in
mind:
 Would I say it to someone’s
face?
 Would it be bullying if done in
person?
 Would I be uncomfortable if my
teacher saw it?
If any answer is yes, he shouldn’t post it!

Middle & High School News
Welcome back to school! I sincerely hope
that everyone had a relaxing and pleasant
Spring Break and Holy week. I hope you
were able to enjoy some family time
together.
So, we are now in our final, very busy
session of school for this year. The serious
countdown has begun for our Grade 12
students as they enter the last month
before their IB Diploma exams! Today
they are participating in their last House
Activities Day!
For the rest of the student body at
Middle/High School, we began the final
session of school with our Student-Led
Conferences this Wednesday, where our
students got to share their portfolios and
achievements with their parents. I would
like to take this opportunity to thank the
parents who successfully signed up for
this year’s conferences using our family
portal facility despite some technical
difficulties with our school home page. I
find these
conferences
especially
rewarding, both as a parent and a
Principal because you get to experience
the sense of pride that our students have
when they show us the results of their
hard work throughout the year. It is also
another chance for us to appreciate how
they’ve developed as learners. ALL of our
students prepared their portfolios, so we
expect ALL of our parents or guardians to
attend. If you were unable to do so on

Welcome back from your Easter break. I
hope everyone’s time with family and
friends was restful and recharged the
batteries! This is a short week back with
yesterday’s holiday for The Day of Valor.
By the time you are reading this, we will
be gearing up for our 3rd and final House
Activities Day (HAD) of the year. It is a
wonderful program where students come
together from across the campus. I am
sure all teams are eager to see who this

Wednesday, please reschedule at a more
convenient time to appreciate your child’s
work this year.
As
I’ve
mentioned,
Student-Led
Conferences
are
very
valuable
experiences and although these are our
formally scheduled conferences for this
time of year, I would also like you to know
that, if you wish to discuss progress with
your child’s teachers you may still
organize
a
Student/Parent/Teacher
conference at any time. Please just call
the Middle/High School office if you have
any concerns.
Next week sees the opening of our Grade
11 & 12 Art Exhibit in the new wing of the
Ayala Center. The grand opening will be
held on Monday, April 13 at 6:30pm.
Every year I am impressed by our talented
artists and I am very excited to be able to
present their work to the general public. I
am very proud of our students’ efforts
and so it is great to see them get wider
recognition in a venue such as this. Please
find some time to visit and view their
work.
Also this week, I was fortunate to be able
to visit the Grade 10B Business class and
watch the students make oral defenses of
their business plans in preparation for
their Micro-Business Fair which opens on
Monday, April 13. The best part though, is
that I also got to sample some of their
proposed products! Delicious! I know
they have been working hard
researching, developing and marketing
these products for sale next week and
wish them luck as they push through
with their plans. If you get the chance,
come along and support our young
entrepreneurs as they try to meet their
sales targets and make a profit. Any
profit they make will go towards funding
their future service projects for CAS
(Creativity Action Service).
Next Wednesday, we will be having a
Coffee Morning presentation on
“Preparing Children for the School
Break’. Immediately following the coffee
morning, Mr. Mockrish, Mr. Harduar
and I will be holding a meeting regarding
the final details of this year’s Grade 5
and Grade 8 Moving Up Ceremony to be
held on campus on Wednesday, June
3. We hope all Grade 5 and 8 parents
can join us for this informational event.
Another exciting event on the horizon is
this year’s school production “Peter
Pan”. Our cast and crew are very busy
rehearsing and have an intense couple
of weeks in the run up to the shows at
6:30 pm on Friday, April 17 and
Saturday, April 18. I am sure it will be
entertaining, as always, and I look
forward to seeing you there!
Have a great weekend!

year’s winner will be across all three
HADs! The final announcement will be
made during our Seniors Farewell
Assembly on April 29.
This
morning
in
assembly
our
Kindergartners shared their explorations
about forces in their unit on “How the
World Works.”
Students have been
engaged in understanding how forces
work and how they are applied in
everyday life. Kinders also read and
talked about a couple of superhero
stories and how superheroes use forces
in doing their job of helping people. To
become a superhero, one should be a
thinker, risk-taker, and inquirer. Inspired
by the superhero stories they shared in
class, the Kindergartners came up with
their own superhero characters and
wrote short stories about their

adventures. In collaboration with Mr.
Saclo and Coach Jay, the students brought
their superhero characters to life! Mr.
Saclo helped them in designing and
creating their superhero costumes, while
Coach Jay taught them how to move like
superheroes.
The Kindergartners were very proud to
share and introduce their Kinder
Superheroes at assembly. The short video
we watched highlighted the students'
creativity and enthusiasm in bringing to
life their superhero characters. Thanks
for sharing Kinders. May the force be with
you!
Thank you to all of our parents who
participated in Wednesday’s Pre School 3

and Pre School 4 conferences. It is very
important for parents to share in their
child’s learning, see what is happening in
class, and share ideas and thoughts with
our teachers. We hope that you found
the
experience
enlightening
and
supportive of your understanding of how
your child is growing and developing. It is
amazing to see the growth in our
youngest learners. Soon they will be
moving into Pre School 4 and
Kindergarten and ready for the new
challenges!
Please join us next Wednesday for our
Coffee Morning on preparing your child
for the school break. Research shows that
summer time is often a time when
student learning “slides” back a bit. We
will continue to share how you can keep
your child motivated and active
throughout the summer, through
summer activity programs like CIS’s own
summer activity program, problem
solving, literacy and creativity ideas that
you can share with your child during the
summer months.
Directly after the Coffee Morning, Mr.
Walton, Mr. Harduar and I will hold a
meeting for Grade 5 and Grade 8
parents regarding the final details of this
year’s Grade 5 and Grade 8 Moving Up
Ceremony to be held on campus on
Wednesday, June 3. We hope all Grade
5 and 8 parents can join us for this
informational event.
Thank you all for your continued
support. Have a lovely weekend with
family and friends.
