Letter From the President
Summer is over? It seems it hardly began. September ushers in cooler weather and it’s a good
time for beginning (or, as in my case, getting back to) projects that will cozy up the winter. And
Christmas will be coming - time to plan ahead. Best of all, WKG meetings resume. Olive and
Margaret have been busy making plans for programs, Knit Togethers and workshops to inform and
delight us.
Many fun things coming up too, especially
Rhinebeck Sheep & Wool Festival (http://www.sheepandwool.com/)
Stitches East in Hartford (http://www.knittinguniverse.com/).
Barbara Kerr will begin a workshop on Gorgeous Gloves this month. These gloves are indeed
gorgeous and a different, intriguing technique.
Hope to see you on the 21st.

Knit Together
Adult Surprise Jacket
For those who are up to the challenge, we will begin the first phase of Elizabeth
Zimmerman's, "Adult Surprise Jacket". But here's the real surprise, we will be
using a line by line 'receipe' by Dan Adcock that guarantees success. You'll need
yarn, desired needles, calculator, markers, tape measure, a row counter, pen and
paper. We'll supply the handout and measure each other. Bring a 4x4 swatch in
garter stitch and watch the magic begin.

Unfortunately, we have to move our NYC store

us out, so we will have a moving sale in Oct.
You should also know that we are opening in
Greenwich in September. We have leased the
same space that the Knitting Niche was in
before they closed. If you sign up for our email
list from our website (www.stringyarns.com) you
will find out when we have our moving sale. I
am not yet sure of the timing..
